In short, when playing 330 rit you want as low armor as possible. But you can take 10 hits or so before you die because of protective spirit. Each of those hits are for 33 damage. And protective bond easily heals 80 or so.
So what if you used low AL chest + pants. And high AL gloves \ head and feet. That way protective spirit wouldn't always trigger, but say 60% of the time or so it still would. Wouldn't that increase protective bond's effective duration from 10 to 15 hits or so? Or even higher depending on the effective chances of hitting the different body parts?
Anyone tried this?

The answer in a way is no.
A 55 monk ( for comparison ) can use any armor as they dont rely on spirit bond to heal and dmg is almost negated.
330rt is a diff kettle of fish - what you rely on is the 330 hp - ps means 33 dmg and sb will heal for higher - but this is where the difference is , low ar means you are taking higher dmg - and this means you will take over 60 dmg ( sb req ) and sb will heal.
Some foes in gw hm have a flaw - their weapon dmg isnt scaled up and in hm they wont even hit you hard enough to heal and you will die - gd example off my head is gargoyles outside nolani - they deal crap wand dmg and ps wouldnt heal because their dmg is way too low.
Low armor is there to increase your dmg input making some skills work - its also needed for retribution to work properly - if you take 10 dmg then its going to give bk probably 1 or 2 dmg if that - higher dmg means higher payback dmg.
For a better understanding id check a post on here that covers 330rt - i think rezdogg made it a while ago and it covers both 330rt and 105rt and also check on wiki 600/smite - i say look at that as the 600 uses low ar , ps and sb and should give an in depth account of what and why its needed - the info does apply to 600/smite , 330 rt , 105 rt , 330 ele and maybe a few other weird looking builds lol.

My understanding was that the 330hp rt relied on the greater than 33hp healing from VwK to negate the damage taken with PS up, with spirit bond to cover the downtime of VwK.
So technically you could use AL60 while holding VwK, so long as everything dies in one use or you can maintain VwK until they do.
That said, most 330hp builds include smites which the AL60 makes a waste of energy/slots.
