Hello - New to Guild Wars
bennyandthejets
Hello I just purchased all 4 GW games last week. Really enjoying it so far. I started a prophecies campaign & almost out of pre-searing. My question is, what is the fastest way for me to access the hall of monuments content? Like, do I have to complete factions/nightfall before accessing EoTN content? Or is there a location that I can go to in prophecies to get to the Eye of the North content? Additionally if I travel straight to Eye of North will I still be able to go back & do the factions/nightfall content without having to create a new character?
Sorry for the silly questions. Im like 6 years behind. Thanks for your time

You have to get to Lions Arch where you'll get a quest that will get you to EotN and HoM. You have to be at least level 10. The fastest way is to find someone to run you there. In the case you're not able to find such a person or can't afford their services your next best chance is to play through the primary quests and the missions, while skipping the additional quests. Some of those give skills/money/items so it will be a nice idea to finish them, but you can go back to them at a later point as well. You can travel anywhere at any time you want so don't worry about not being able to access the other campaigns.

Avoid being ran by other players, just play the game till you get there, runs and those kind of things broke this game apart. Good luck!
God Amongst Many Mortals
Decide what you want to do. Are you into Dugeon Raids/SC(You will learn what these mean soon enough) Or are you more into the story line. if you want to do these you just need to beat Proph+EoTN but this is probs a bit of. But just enjoy the game as much as you can!

When you have done prophecies or had a lot of experiance then getting run places does become an option - but only for new chrs.
You will find big differences between all the campaigns and eotn - prophs can be run skipping out say 95% of gw ( slightly more if non prophs chr ) , factions and nightfall have special missions that act as a lock point - thats to say the mission acts as the next primary and you need to have followed the seqeunce in primaries to be allowed to do mission and continue. This stops players doing what happened in prophs - its possible to get prophs done by skipping in say 4 hrs ( someone probably knows the faster times ).

You have plenty of time. Just play the game. There is so much to see and do. Finish Prophecies straight through is my suggestion; it is an adventure you will always remember. After that, there is a quest that will take you to Eye of the North in Lion's Arch.

Once in EoTN, The Eye with The Hall of Monuments is the second outpost you come to.
Pressing F11 will bring up a link to the official wiki. The unofficial wiki also has much good info.

You can access Eye once you are level 10, it should pop up on your screen as a quest when you go into a major town like Lions Arch. And you can travel all over, if you press M you'll have a ship icon eventually, you click it and it'll ask you which continent you want to go to (Eye of the North isn't a continent though so if you press M it's included on the Tyria 'Prophecies' map)

I started the Trilogy edition and EotN about 8 months ago. Good luck with the game and have fun. Personally, I liked the later games like Nightfall and Eye of the North more than the original Prophecies, so you may want to create at least one character within Factions and one within Nightfall. I've been working through all the campaigns though I haven't finished any of them yet; I don't go on runs.
Another thing to keep in mind is choosing to use heroes or henchmen. Heroes were introduced in Nightfall (AFAIK) and you can modify their armor, weapons, skills, and even secondary professions. You can't modify henchmen. You pick up heroes while playing through Nightfall and Eye of the North. (As others have pointed out on the forum, though, the henchmen may be more useful to you until you can upgrade your heroes; you'll have to judge for yourself.)

Since you have them all, when you get to Lion's Arch and are at least level 10, M.O.X. the hero will be waiting for you outside.

It can be advisable to join with an active guild also just for the social part.
Some missions can be of a challenge without heroes.
So having people online always helps who is willingly to help you!

or you can make another character in nightfall run that to level 10 and get to go to the Eye faster.
but I would suggest just play the game till LA. It is quite enjoyable. Frustrating at times but enjoyable.

Getting to the Eye faster doesn't give you any particular benefits. Most of the accomplishments that you will record in the HoM come from playing the campaigns, and those accomplishments can be recorded in HoM whenever you finally get there. It isn't as if they expire if you don't record them right away, and not having been to the HoM doesn't keep you from earning them. There is no reason to hurry to get to HoM before going back to the campaigns to earn the items you will display.

"Don't stop believing. As you journey to the North, what you lack in experience will be made up for by your courage. While in Eye of the North, you'll be treated as a level 20 character; however, you will be unable to modify your attribute levels."
While you're in the Eye of the North region, you can continue to level up until you hit 20 though. My first character to travel there was a level 14.

Welcome to Tyria.
There's not much more to be said, as you can see most of this is preference bur Proph is certainly the easiest for newcomers due to the pacing and skill quests.
IMPORTANT: since you have eotn, go to guildwars2.com, find the HoM rewards calculator. If your character has a page (any char from your account) then you have all the time in the world to get to eotn and to get HoM points as you can add AFTER gw2 is out.
