Because I breezed through it in NM, all the enemies were there and what not but upon killing Galrath it didn't mark as complete...is it a bug or did I just miss the point of these 'hard mode' quests?

You have to do the quest in Hard Mode. Thus the "Hard Mode" quests.

When I seen the 'updated' Galbranth quest someone in alliance told me it was "Hard version" I thought the enemies were going to be like level 40 etc. so tested the water in normal mode first, he wasn't there, only Verata, so yeah probably have to do in hm

I assumed HM would be needed, but in the quest log it just said 'Master Difficulty' so I assumed that's what anet meant by hardmode quests. To be honest buffing all the enemy levels and leaving it as a master difficulty quest is better than requiring HM because of all the ridiculous AI buffs that go with it.

I did it in HM with heroes... completed it without much of a problem. Didn't really consider doing it in NM since I got the understanding that it is supposed to be done in HM. Was sorta expecting it to say so in the log though, if it really is only possible to finish in HM it should say so in log... much like NF quests/missions says if a specific hero is needed.

So to the question. Don't think it is a bug that makes you unable to complete quest in NM since the update does call it HM quest.

I had a hard time figuring out that you have to BE in HM just to take the quest. After that little confusion, everything went fine

Yeah, but anyone who doesn't read the update notes won't know that. "Master Difficulty" has never meant "HM only". They really, really need to have these quests marked in your log as HM only.

i finished it with heroes only. it was super fun ! Just make sure u get a defensive rit in ur party. helps a lot

Im aware some people wont know, since it doesn't come through when you take quest. If you read my entire post you'd see that I completely agree that it should somehow say in log that it has to be done in hm.
I know master difficulty never meant hm, hence why I suggested it to say it have to be hm much in same way as nf quests/missions tell you to bring a certain hero.

I just wasted some time doing it in nm, Galrath was simply not there. When I went in HM he was there. I agree that it should be mentioned in the quest description that you must go HM.
