Is anyone else worried the game will die completely when GW2 comes out?

Ya, I'm sure it's inevitable, but a bit sad. I guess they could try to stop it by releasing another GWEN type expansion near the release of GW2. Thoughts?

Nope, GW had its moment in the sun. Its going to mostly be "That game I grind in to get stuff for GW2" soon enough. Remembering how amazing Proph was, I wanna be done with GW by the time the sequel hits. Sure many others feel the same way.

Honestly, if Anet were seriously concerned about the wellbeing of GW1, they'd have gotten more people on the live team. They're not going to have the manpower to create an entire EotN size expansion, and even if they do, they're not going to make it. If EotN took 6 months to produce (I don't know how realistic that value is) then it's going to be close enough to the release date of GW2 that it'd risk splitting interest between the games imo. As you say, it'll be a bit sad to see GW1 go, but GW2 will hopefully live up to the fun times we had in GW1 so it's not a bad thing, really.

not worried one bit, as I wont be playing gw2, and if they turn the servers off on gw then I will have a lot of free time to read more books and other RL stuff.

no worries at all.

Not everyone's planning on getting GW2, and not everyone who does get GW2 is planning on leaving GW1.

I'm definitely getting GW2, but there's no way I'd leave GW1 entirely.

as of now, i have no plans to leave gw 1 and get gw 2. i don't think i have accomplish everything in gw 1, i still need to get all my chars to complete all the campaigns.

Mmmmm..... *thinking*. I plan on getting GW 2 and I'd more than likely be on the sequel than GW 1 cause I'm almost over GW 1 and I'm anxious for WOC to come out already. With that said, I'm hoping anet allows something if we log into GW2 we can still interact with our guild in GW1. That's really what I'm curious about. Will we be in a total different Guild or the same guild.

I'm also hoping Anet does something that allows us to be logged into both GW 1 and 2. If not, I know I'll probably be more on GW 2 cause its fresh and I'm hoping its friendly on my pc as GW1. :-)

Personally, as soon as I get 50/50 (only need 5k more exp on a pre char to get it >_>), there's nothing else for me to do in Guild Wars, so I'll be done. I'm just waiting for GW2 now. I imagine a lot of people are doing the same thing.

no.

that's cute you suggest there should be another EOTN-type GW1 expansion.

no, why would removing players cause ANYTHING to change?

I feel that one of the good things about gw2 is that it is so different from gw1 that it is actually two entirely different games to play and thus you can play both. Personally gw2 feels to simplified and cliché and not as in depth as gw1 for me.

And since i am ranger by heart and gw1 ranger > gw2 ranger i will be dropping by regularly i think.

depends really

If gw2 isn't up to my expectations or it doesn't grab me the way gw 1 did then yes I would be concerned.
Otherwise I am moving on I realise now that all my GW1 gaming is to fill up the hom and I am not sure I could find a reason to play without that.

I doubt I will be playing GW2 as I do not like the direction anet have gone with that. I am happily still playing GW1 long after achieving GWAMM and 50/50 but I would say that anet are deliberately trying to destroy the game with the last few updates. I will keep up with it as long as my friends and guildies are here.

NCSoft could alway contract it out to third party Developer as it is their game Not ArenaNets.NCSoft could do more with GW1 if they wanted to.

Not directed to Marty below.
There are those who won't be moving over to GW2 considering their favourite profession isn't in it.There are those that are playing new games or are involed in real life or they just had enough of GW.

I won't log in on GW1 much when i am basking in the good old days of Guild wars2. This way i can remember them fondly when the game gets ruined later on.
