Dear friend died, I want to finish off his achievements in the game..
tylerwillbemissed
This might be a rather long post, for a short topic. But, I need to let everything out because it's too much to handle right now. I woke up about half an hour ago, and my dad came in crying telling me that one of my good friends, Tyler, died in a car accident coming home from work last night.
I started playing guildwars a couple months after it came out, though I was often lonely because my real friends never played. My friend Tyler decided to buy it and try it out with me. We did alot of things together in that game, we were even in the same guild. But after the guild quit we quit.
A few months ago he asked me for my account info so he could play again on all my level 20's. So I gave him the info and he started playing once more. Recently he was telling me how he couldn't wait to play Guild Wars 2 with me and another friend and how he was trying to finish his "Hall of ______" I can't remember what it was but I know it started with hall.
So I need your guys help. I haven't played this game in about 2 years. What is the hall of ______? How do I finish the hall? Can you give me any hot keys that will help me out? I used to remember how to auto target enemies, not any more of course. And can you guys give a player who hasn't played in a while some tips?
I really want to finish off these achievements for him, because gaming means a lot to us. I am by no means trolling you guys, or joking around. This actually did happen to me. If you guys want further information I'll post a news story when available, but as of now it just happened some few hours ago. So there's none at the moment.
Thank you
-Corey

Hall of Monuments is what you're on about. There's a lot of indepth detail on the Wiki about many aspects of the game. you can also check what progress he's made on the account so far but visiting the HoM calcualtor and entering one of the character's names. It shows what's unlocked on the account, not just per character.
I always find threads like this awkward because I have no idea if it's someone bored and trolling or someone genuine. Therefore I shall remain neutral by not commenting on the situation and simply giving factual advice.

Thank you. He had 10 out of the 50. Is there a guide anywhere on how to get all of these things?

Before the 30/50 mark you get several items in GW2 per point you gain.
My guess is he was talking about making it to 30/50, not 50/50.
But take it how you wish, 50/50 is a long endeavour.

for those who think it's fishy. This is an article from a local news paper.

My friend didn't play guild wars but we played a heck of a lot of other games over the years, I haven't touched any of those games since his death.
In a way GW was my refuge
So good luck with your task and sorry for your loss.

it seems he was speeding, i lost a friend because he was drunk and speeding, he was only 19.. people need to take driving more seriously. anyways, sorry for your loss.

Yeah he was 2 minutes away from his house and his mom texted him asking him when he was coming home. He went to text back, went off the road and hit a tree. The worst part is no one called the cops, and they didn't find him until they went through a routine drive.

And that is why texting while driving is illegal in most places...
I am sorry to hear about your loss, though.
As far as where to start, check the HoM calculator to see what he had accomplished, as well as his titles window (H is the hotkey for that) in-game to see where he was at on other things. The HoM calculator also lets you check and see what minipets he had, armor sets, weapons, and etc. that he had dedicated. Also see how much money you have available on there - a lot of points can be gained through titles, but a lot will require money (elite armors mostly, as well as minipets, hero armors, and weapons if you go the purchasing route).
F11 opens the Options window in-game, and if you want to change around any of the keybinds, it's in there that you can do that.
And as far as starting out new, I'd pick a character and simply play through the campaigns at first. That'll get you statues/titles for the HoM if they weren't done yet already, as well as get you the hang of playing again.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend, there's no real nice way to put it but Q&A isn't the best place for people posting their condolences. :x Please understand. Your question has been answered and if you have any other questions please feel free to look through the FAQ or post here.
