I forgot my character name =(

I haven't played Guild Wars in a couple of years, but was wanting to play before the new one comes out. I have all the expansions, including the one that goes into the Nord area, which is one of my favorites.
Unfortunately, the new process to get into your account requires that you name one of your characters to prove you are the owner of the account, and for heavens sake, I can't remember the names!!
I had several characters and can't remember any of their names. I tried names I might have done, but nothing fits - especially since in Guild Wars you have a first and last name, which makes it even harder to remember!
In any event, I know this sounds stupid, but has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do to regain your account?
I have sent an email to customer support, but they are taking their sweet-@$$ time getting back to me. I have any identifying information they need, I just don't know the frigging names of my characters (some were named by my daughter when she played and, of course, she doesn't remember either)!
Ugh, I feel so stupid!

Contact support and provide them with your original game keys (hope you still have those) it will take some time but they can and will recover a name for you.

No friends you can contact online that might still have you in their friends list?

Firstly, support don't work on weekends. It'll still be several hours before they'll even look at your email.
Secondly, look for places where your name could have been recorded. Did you write it down anywhere? Post it on forums/facebook/wikis/etc? Tell friends? Use it in other games? Have it in a screenshot?

Thanks for all the comments. I did write a support ticket and I did have my key in an email - I always keep folders for those type of emails - but I've looked through all kinds of notebooks and paper notes here and there, and I just couldn't find the names. I've been better about doing that these days, but it's been a couple of years since I played, and unfortunately, I didn't do that with Guild Wars. I can remember some first names, but no last names. I made them up as I went.
Guess I'm stuck not playing until later in the week - or whenever they get back to me.
I know the name thing is supposed to be a security measure, but I like the old-fashioned personalized question security measure. I can answer that stuff! Lol! I've played Wow for about 5 years, and just switched over to Rift this year, but was thinking about trying out Guild Wars 2. Then I remembered the fun I had on this one with the latest areas added, and I was hoping to play again.
And I was mostly a loner when I played, so I don't have any friends of note I could check with.
Thanks again, you all.

Ok Dont Panic
I know you have probably tried this however if you kept the game installed on the computer did you take any screenshots? If you did this will possibly have the name of your character on? Probably been tried but it might help? Even if you don't think you did take any it might be worth a look!

First of all this is nothing personal to the original poster. I hope they fix it as soon as possible. And like people said to speed things up, check friends you know in real life, screenshots (beside being on your hard drive, maybe it is on a forum of the guild you where in)
But.....
I see this question often, and responses are always the same. I would like to suggest that this is put into the FAQ (as far as I screened it, it isn't there) and from that moment on these threaths are closed (due to them being in the FAQ)

Most of all, write it down in a notebook next time.

Oh yeah, believe me, I do have one now and have for the past couple of years. It's very helpful to keep notes of your characters and their class, profession, etc.
Unfortunately, back when I played GW, I was fairly new at the mmorpg thing. I'm much more seasoned now and have names I tend to use regularly, but back then I made up some goofy name (not meant to be goofy, but I just remember it being a silly made-up name) and since it was made up without any personal significance, I don't remember what I used.
Lesson learned the hard way!

Have you got back on your account yet? Wondering if there are any updates

The same thing happened to me. I came back from a 4 year hiatus about a month ago. I emaileds support and, amazingly, they were able to provide me with the name of one of my characters in less than a day. I didn't even provide my original key, just the email the account was created with. I did know the first name of one of the chars but not the last. One of my friends also had this problem a couple of days ago. He called them and they were able to find his character names right there on the phone. Not sure why it is taking them so long.

it depends on how many tickets come in at one time...they are usually taken care of in the order received---if a LOT came in on friday, then it may take some time to get to. AND with some conductivity issues they have been looking into (and a weekend-plus anniversary event), things may take a wee bit longer than usual.
Yeah I have learned to write stuff down...so I have all my names, account info and I even went to look for the original receipts from when I bought the game (found them but they are now blank ...yeah those are real helpful now).
so its just a waiting game now.
