An account-based gift for your 'Birthday?'

Thing is, I and many of my consorts have had the itch to delete one of our older characters before ANet introduced a yearly birthday gift to commemorate the creation of our characters.
Many of us also don't have the access to a credit card so we can buy additional slots so we can freely create and play our new characters.
I've probably owned about 20 characters (just from PvE!) and somehow I feel that it's an achievement to have had my account for 6 years, but I only have two characters that are already over 5 years of age.

I'd think it would be nice to get a small item or achievement to show that our accounts are of a certain age. I'm not sure how or what could be implemented so it wouldn't be unfair to others, but I just believe that it's quite an achievement to have had a 6 year old account.

Cheers

You can buy limited amount debit cards to use on the internet from stores if you don't have access to a credit card.

I guess you're right on that one, but I just thought of that to make a point for my case. This is not the main topic that you're talking about though. I'm not going at the lack of credit cards to buy extra slots, I'm going at the fact that many others have had their account for a longer time than their oldest character.

It's long been an annoyance that my oldest character is 8 months younger than my account. Back in the 'no more than 4 character slots' days, I deleted my 2 oldest characters (which I wasn't really playing anymore) to make room for 2 new characters, so I could try the remaining 2 professions. Six years into the game it seems a bit late to do something about it though.

It would seem reasonable, that when the account hits the 6 year mark for something to come your way to commemorate it.

If the celebration commemorates the players "loyalty to the game" then age of character shouldn't be the deciding factor.

I could play the game continuously creating new characters each year and get nothing or I could start one character play for a week and never touch the game again till now and get the goodies.

I came into the game 8 months after it came out so will get my year 6 mini next year.

Actually I agreed. Never knew about the gifts until I deleted some characters.

It took me some time and maturity to stop deleting my characters. I'm indeed sorry that I deleted my 2005 warrior, ranger and elementalists. But I do believe that an acount based gift is better. You don't have so many mini/gifts in the market if it is based on 1 acount rather wide chracters range.

I am in the same situation as many here. I never knew about gifts, till i joined the first guild. So my account its almost 7 months older than my characters. So

same at first it was because i only had proph but as time went on i kept getting bored.now it because it keeps me entertained ingame. ive played 43 months and only one is close to 4 years old others are close to 1-2 years. i learned now to least keep some for bday gifts.

As long as I still get the characters' birthday gifts. I would rather have 32 gifts every year than just 4.

my dad gave me his account and immediatly got one, hell if not get commemorated for our age of our account we should get as many presetns as characters every birthday of the account... 8(characters)X(year)6

i agree hell most of didnt even know about hats or minis either.

they should give us a chance to recover an old player.

The call for everything to be simplified so everyone can get things easier has gone to far in this game.
Dont get me wrong its a great idea. But the whole point is to give your Character a Birthday....that Character accomplished being on your account for year and the continuing years.....

My account is 6 years old and I always regret deleting my first toons until I was happy with what I picked. I wouldn't even mind if the account-based gived was auto customised either, it would just be nice to get something to show for account age not character age.

Easier? Not by a long shot. I'm not asking for free gifts or anything, I just feel that there's a need for an additional gift, be it a customized item or a customized tonic, I'd rather even have a customized gift for older accounts. I'm not after more presents so I can sell them.

Yeah, because it takes so much work and it's such a huge accomplishment to not have deleted characters back when that was the only way you could experience all 6 professions...

yeah sure whynot,...my oldest character was created the day I bought my account, but getting 2 gifts---always better than one!

Your missing my point.
My point is Anet gives us something, and people immediately ask Anet to simplify it.

No, you're missing the point. They cannot simplify something that's at the absolute zero on the simplicity scale to begin with. It doesn't become any simpler than to log in and see a birthday present. They cannot, by any means possible, make this part of the game any simpler than it currently is.

If anything, the people who have been lucky enough not to have deleted characters before there ever was any indication that there would be birthday presents, are the ones who have it 'simple'. (By your weird definition of the word simple.) Because I'm sure my 6th birthday presents aren't going to be worth 200 ecto when I get them 8 months from now.

A single "gift" of some sort to commemorate playing the game for six years is a good idea, because basing it just on a surviving character proves nothing.

Some idiot "like me" could buy extra Character slots "Which I did" and could have say 14 characters each getting birthday minis and any other goodies.

Having a six year old character does not prove you have played the game for six years that character could be lvl 1 and in presearing with 6 minis and an everlasting tonic as a "Reward" for game loyalty.

While an account based gift doesn't prove you played the game any more than a character based one does it at least reward those who for whatever reason deleted their original characters.

to make less complex or complicated; make plainer or easier: to simplify a problem.
You give a present to peoples characters after 12 months.
But later change it to give it to peoples characters who are not 12 months old.
You just Made thinks easier to achieve.

You're*

It isn't an idea to simplify anything , either way it's a waiting game, it just adds gifts based on account age rather than just character age.

@Aba: What you're failing to see is that he just wants a separate gift for account age. He's not asking for a 6th year birthday present for each char that was created 6 years ago but was deleted before their birthday arrived. Because even though I personally don't, many people in this game play it hours on end each and every day, so keeping more than one character for 6 years is a simple waste of time and extremely boring. But it would be nice for them to maybe have a gift to remind them that they did indeed start the game 6 years ago.

It's not making it easier to get anything. He wants a new something that you couldn't even get before.

Personally, I'm indifferent about it. I wouldn't want it to be anything too significant, but maybe a small reminder that you're however-old wouldn't hurt

Waiting for things to happen while you do nothing at all doesn't involve levels of difficulty. Waiting for something for a week is as easy as waiting for something for 10 years. There is no reduction of complexity. There's also no achievement. Nothing about your post makes sense.

Maybe not a birthday gift, but I deleted my ranger from May 2005 when I got back into the game in Dec, 2006.

I personally would like an emote for an account age indicator/reward.

You can buy a 6th year minipet for your character, but an emote is real proof of how old/new school you are.

Or a title under your char that displays /age, but show account age only not the char being /age.
