mine is working fine...does it give you a reason for not logging you in or does it just say 'connecting...' for a few minutes and then do nothing?

Restart your computer. Then try again
.
If that doesn't work. A reinstall would help
.

i would try that - when i first got the game mine did the same - it could also be a hardware thing beacuse a friend of mine had the same issue and found out it was their graphics card

hmmm i reinstalled and its still doing it, its not a hardware thing either because i was just playing it and then it crashed and stopped working.
Edit: i got a new router today but guild wars was working on it at first but then just stopped, could it be the router?

Are you using a router thats plugged into a Westell modem? Westell modems are typically also routers. Two routers gets a bit confusing.
If you have your modem going into the router's input, try plugging both your modem and your cpu into two of the router's output jacks. Your router will then act as a switch instead. I wouldn't recommend this if your modem is purely a modem (see Westell reference). If so, make sure your firewall settings are secure. If your router is switched this way directly from a modem, then it leaves your PC vulnerable. If your router is switched this way with another router in between, your PC will be more secure. Oh, as far as I am aware, this moreso applies to wireless.

Verify that your ports are open for Guild Wars. I don't know them off the top of my head, but they're posted on the GW site. And make sure you open UDP as well as TCP as GW used both. Also, make sure you're not using a software FW such as McAfee. It blocks everything.

ive been playing since betas and my old router always worked with guild wars so i know for now that its the router, this new router aint all that great anyways (low signal strength) so ill just go buy a linksys router because ive heard they are the best router company, hopefully this will solve the problem.

When you say it's connecting it does nothing, do you mean trying to open the program it says it, or when your trying to actually log in?

If you want to know the port GW accesses, just press ALT+TAB to do this whilw GW is running this while :
Start-->Run
type -->cmd
type --->netstat
Doh, this won't work if you're not logged in. Should be port 6112 anyway.

screen shot of problem
i had these, usually when i delete gw.dat and redownloads it it lets me log in
other wise you can try create a new user account on your system and try it first.
