Changing servers?

My ping is averaging around 200, and I'm from eastern Canada.

I've searched and couldn't find any threads. nor was it in the frequently asked questions.

Is there a way to change the server to perhaps get a better connection? I have no idea what server I am on.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess I'll just deal with the latency. I found the district thing, but it seems that the one I'm on has the lowest latency.

expecting replies in 15mins isn't really a good time scale.
your "home" district is usually the one that will give less latency (or thats the idea)
However people have decided using a less populated one for speed clears gives less latency as everyone pretty much converges on American or Euro English servers these tend to be ones to avoid (or so the population of gw assumes)

I'm in eastern Canada too. My ping averages around 120-150ms (to America districts). So, part of your problem may be just a result of your own particular computer and/or ISP. 200ms shouldn't be any problem for PvE, but I don't know if it would matter for PvP.

Edit - btw, one of the nice things about being in eastern Canada is that the ping to European servers (not just GW, but the internet in general) is usually quite good as well.

200 ping? That's fantastic!

Lag has a couple other entities at play.

FPS (Frames Per Second)-the MORE you have, the LESS lag/choppy-ness you will have.

Connection of you internet provider and(or) your router.

Ping (Lag "spikes" [your character stops moving] could be a result of a great many things such as GW Server "hiccups" if you will, personal connection, how many other people in your home are on GW, how many people in your home are surfing the internet / downloading items (this will slow down your rate of ping and possibly your Frames Per Second)

Also other variables such as what graphics card you're using, what operating system you are using, if it's an outdated computer, etc.

200 is absolutely amazing ping. When you get random spikes of ping (usually 800-1,000+ problems WILL occur)

Hope this answers your um... ping question.

Try to stick to american servers over all you should be fine. If you do some sc's with european people you will have to move to another district in order to reach "compermise" with other team mates. Usually Italian/Russian is the best.
