No I agree with you totally and all the others that took up the idea of numbers of players.
Point is you need to have an idea of who is waiting to play, not names of course just the numbers and which areas of pvp they are wanting to play.
Its like when you enter a town in pve you can see roughly how many are there, you wouldn't stand in an empty town spamming Looking for group or wts wtb would you.
Given the right environment you will have more players coming in to play rather than giving up altogether.
Make it friendly to new players too by designating "game rooms/areas" as beginner areas where play is casual so they can get into pvp without some tin pot dictator laying down the law and putting them off the game altogether.
Set out other areas where anything goes and players will expect you to know what your doing and will come down on you hard for messing up.
