hello i recently came back into GW and purchased the last expansion nightfall and was extremely surprised to find out paragons were not only the least favorite class, but even though they are least played/favorite class their weapons are one of the most expensive in the GW guru auction.
My Questions:
1) why are they so expensive if not many play paragons?
2)why are paragons not liked...? is it for silly reasons like the armors?
P.S- how are mesmers doing in PvE nowadays no one ever used them in pve back when GW was released and i stopped playing mine due to community hate and long hours of party searching.
I am trying to make a new class and hate classes that have no skill/minimal skill required. Complex classes and things that make you think/react are more fun than just spamming 1-8 on keyboards. If i like these types of class what do you guys recommend?
-i like boxing but there is no hand to hand class ( this would be awesome class for guild wars 2 by the way in my mind)
-I like the diablo 2 druid but there is no class in GW that transforms to animals and monsters.
-I like spears but people kee telling me paragons are boring and broken class
what class resembles diablo 2 druid the most in GW?
Any information is appreciated ahead of time ^^
Why Are Spears Overpriced...?and questions about classes.

Spears are used by more professions than just Paragons. Caster professions should have a spear and shield on hand as a defensive set. Certain skins like the Voltaic Spear are prestigious (due to their rarity) so naturally the price is high. Warriors and Rangers can also run spear builds, although their impact on the price of spears is fairly negligible.
They're one-dimensional. The problem is that Paragons synergise mostly with other Paragons, so unless you've got multiple paragons in a group then you're going to be stuck running the same build. If you try to not run that build (the imbagon) then you won't get into any groups.
They're great. Read the Mesmer forum/Hero forum/gwpvx.com for builds.
Probably Mesmer. Although once you set up your heroes decently you really don't need to put much effort in regardless.

Pretty much what Marty said and there was a large update to mesmer skills last year they are very useful now.

1) Spears are used as caster weapons (there are R/P spearchucker builds too, but they are not the reason spears are expensive) because they allow a shield (i.e. stay in defensive set when taking damage/sitting around, switch to 40/40 for casting etc). With a spear, one does not risk running up to an enemy unlike with warrior weapons. In PvE, heroes with spears can trigger MoP/Barbs and get less caster hate thrown on them.
2) They are not liked because they have a grand total of one build (imbagon) that is on par with the other professions' efficiency. While PvE does not need that much efficiency, it's merely a matter of comparison. People just prefer to play more powerful professions. ANet is working on an update for them.
3) Mesmers got a big update and are very sought after in PvE now, with good reason.
4) Mesmer and Dervish are good "complex" classes to play imo.
5) There is no class that is even remotely close to the Druid in D2. There are PvE skills in EotN which supposedly turn you into animals, but your character model doesn't actually change.

Paragons only have 85 skills in total, of which 15 elite skills. Most of these are (pretty) useless. This does not leave a lot of builds to make, and paragons aren't really good at playing secondaries either. Paragon damage is very subpar as well.

In PvE, the enemy AI tends to try attack players and H/H with lowest AR/health and those wielding caster weapons first.
Another reason spears r popular, for casters, is that if they use a non-caster weapon they will get targeted less (likely).

most people make a paragon for 1 use Imbagon, some people like them more and get god walking on them just for the shear uniqueness of a paragon having it. they aren't used in many speedclears if any, you used one for glaiveway-doa, and maybe norn point farm from olafsted, but i never really found a use for my paragon, i just have her for storage now a days...imo dervish is almost the same although half of guildwars likes them now and the other half still think it's a pointless class/wannabe class
like Gabriel said mesmers got a nice update a year or so ago and they became alot more popular, now you have ubway-underworld, mesway-fow, trenchway-doa and etc...they're involved in very guild oriented speedclears now-a-days.
