Hello - New to GW & Lots of Questions

Hello,

I have been playing for a little over a month now & have a few questions that perhaps someone may know the answer to. I am currently exploring Old Ascalon(Post Searing), specifically the area a little north of Fort Ranik. I came across a npc affiliated with "Zaishen". I spoke with him & he teleported me to a completely different continent. All of the sudden I felt completely lost. I was completely disoriented with my surroundings. From what I could gather it was some sort of hub for daily quests perhaps? Many of the quests that were offered were in areas I haven't explored yet.

Question #1

What exactly is this island?

Question #2

The island looks like it is apart of the battle Isles. Which is where the "Zaishen Menagerie" is located (From what I have read). Is it possible to get to the Zaishen Menagerie from this location (location being the area with the daily quests) or do I have to use some other way?

Question #3

I keep hearing about people referencing quests that offer permanent attribute points? What quests are these & should I be concerned about them right now since i am only in Old Ascalon?

Question #4

Yesterday I just learned about the Tapestry Shred from Gwen in Pre-Searing. Which made me sad as I just left Pre & didn't get it as a result of having multiple Red Irises in my inventory despite having spoke with her on many occasions. Are there any other items like this in the game I should be aware of?

Thanks again everyone! Sorry for all the silly questions.

That's Embark Beach. It's pretty much a convenience area where you have access to all the merchants, daily quest givers, and have easy transport to all the missions. Nothing new is provided there so you don't need to visit there if you don't want to. There'll be an NPC that will transport you back to Tyria.

No. You need to go to the Great Temple of Balthazar to be able to access the Menagerie. Access to the GToB is granted when you reach one of the port cities (Lion's Arch in Prophecies, Kaineng Center in Factions, and Kamadan in Nightfall). You are correct in recognising the Battle Isles though.

Leveling up will grant you 170 out of the 200 attribute points that a character can have. There are two quests in each campaign that reward 15 attribute points each. You are only permitted to do the attribute points of the campaign you started your character in. For a Prophecies character, these are a long way off.

I can't think of any items that you have only temporary access to other than that.

1) This is embark beach, situated on the 'Battle Isles.' The Battle Isles are a place you can teleport to, and is filled with PvP places - if you made a PvP character, it would spawn on the Battle Isles.

Embark beach is an area where you can teleport to any area/mission in the game that you have already unlocked/been to, and so is supposed to be an area where people can meet in order to get a group faster, instead of everyone waiting in their respective mission.

2) The Zaishen Menagerie is unlocked when you visit the "Great Temple of Balthazar." (The main PvP area.) Again, if you make a PvP char, you'd be able to explore all this much easier. You can get to GToB by travelling by ship - this option will only be open when you have progressed more through the game though.

3) The two attribute quests are ones not in the area where you are in, and I would only attempt them once you have max level and good experience. Here are the quests though: http://www.guildwiki.org/Attribute_quest

4) Not that I can think of, but remember, you could always still get the tapestry by making another pre-char, getting the tapestry, then putting it in storage - it will be perfectly usable by your main char.

- You should see the Zaishen Menagerie once you reach one of teh Port cities if you press the "M" key top open up the map. Just click on the name Zaishen Menagerie and you will be moved there from the Battle Isles. Once you join a Guild you can also map to your guild hall from that map (apart from using the "G" Menu and clicking on "Move to Guild hall"). Once you reac one of the main port towns with that character, you can also click on the ship located on nearly all maps to choose which port town you want to travel to

- You dont need them yet. In Prophecies you do however need to get through a pretty large part of the game to have access to these quests.

- The quest you are refering to is purely optional. You just missed out on a tiny part of the whole game. If you really feel bad about missing that, then you can always make a new character to get the needed item or buy it from another player.

The special item is a grim cesta which gives -50hp. Keep it for special 55hp farm build, or sell it to another player....

Sorry, I laughed at your first two questions. No offense, it wasn't a nasty laugh but I just love the way you asked it. Takes me back to when I first started Gw and brought back some good memories.

These are the quests for attribute points. But I do not think you need to worry about them yet. if you start in Nightfall, you start straight away with the ranking but with Ascalon, I think it is still a long way.

Prophecies:
Forgotten Wisdom
The Hero's Challenge

Factions:
Lost Treasure
An Unwelcome Guest

Nightfall:
Rising in the Ranks: Master Sergeant
Rising in the Ranks: First Spear

You can get the tapestry again by starting another character and playing it a little, then take it over to post and store it. Nothing is really lost. You can also pick up the flute or give gwen the flower to obtain a quest next time in the Eye of the North. I have all the items but only needed the flower to get the quest.
