Hey there,

I haven't been playing GW for many many years. I bought the game when it just came out, played it for a while and haven't played the game since. Yesterday I saw an expansion pack and thought about trying out GW again. So I bought the expansion for the game for 8 Euros not knowing this game was second-hand, since this was just in the same place as all the normal games (I don't think there was even a special spot for second hand games and there wasn't a special sticker on it either. I just thought it had a discount because of the age of this expansion pack). So I got back to my vacation address, I opened the box only to find out the serial code had been uncovered. So yea, I'm kind of in a problem right now.

First of all, if I want to return this game to the store I bought it from I won't be able to prove that it wasn't me who uncovered the serial code, so I don't know if they will able to take it back.
Second of all, because of the fact I haven't played GW in ages I don't remember any of the account information I used at the time, except for the class I played.
So I read this forum thread :http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...t10388756.html and was thinking about following this advice:
This is what you do. Go to www.guildwars.com/support. Click Web support. Now you can get the account of the seller. Now click Account Support in department. Tell them you want to recover your account. Type your Access Key in the Question Box. Wait 1-2 days, they should give you the account details. Change the email and password, and the account is yours.
But because I would have to recover 2 serial codes I don't know if this would work, since the expansion pack is probably bound to another account than my own and it will show that I'm not the first owner of this expansion pack.

What should I do?

You can recover your own account by emailing [email protected] and put in ACCOUNT LOGIN PROBLEM. They will ask you to supply ownership details - key codes, creation date, character names/professions, character creation dates, owner birthday, address, etc. Anything you can supply.

As for the used expansion, you can ask them, but I don't know what they can do. Try the store first. If they resealed a used game, I doubt it's the first one they've done, but they might not realize that you can't reuse GW key codes.

Access to the game is based on your code and account. not on the box. So the shop was in error to sell the game second hand and it is against the gw EULA. If they do say you scratched the code open, it might be possible to ask GW support to tell them when the code was used first. Dunno if they do it, but it is worth the shot when the shop doesn't help you.

Can I ask you though if your sure it is a second hand game? Does this shop keeps the content of the boxes behind a counter? cause if not, it might be that someone opened the box in the shop sued the scratch card to get the code and put it back on the shelves.

8 Euro's for the eotn Expansion is a normal price atm (amazon is selling for 9,70 USD) so it could be a new copy and the shop was duped as well.

So basicly shop first, if that fails contact support and ask them what they can do for you (explain the situation and ask what your options are).

If you get things up and running, in advance, Welcome back to the game.
