Appraently you will also be able to transfer the gwamm title to an identically named character as well in gw2.

Otherwise, no, GWAMM does not necessarily have anything to do with the HoM calculator.

Actually if you wish to have bragging rights in GW2, GWAMM is the only thing that matters.
Remember the weps, pets and such, are essentially just rubbish like /bonusitems are now, everyone will bin them after a week or two as they get desired weapons in GW2, especially since hall crap cannot be sold or traded.
Who uses a Nevermore Bow? Almost no one, everyone aspires to Silverwing, Dryad etc. GW2 will be no different.
Every man and his dog can get fairly high points in their hall, achieving GWAMM requires more work.
So if you want to display it in GW2, and remember it won't be terribly commonplace after some time, given many players will never have played GW, then sure it matters

if the HOM item skins stay unique and infinitely upgradeable that makes them different than in your scenario.
Might make a small difference but I do agree with Venganza. It's a status thing that makes people desire the most unique items in a game. I think even the gwamm title will not be used much in GW2 because the gw2 ones are the real ones that "count".
It has been hinted at (sorry no source, I think it was a dev posting on guru 2) actually that having GWAMM will give you some sort of additional reward in GW2 ontop of what is in your HoM...
And as for transferring it onto a identically named character... I don't think thats true or at least it hasn't been confirmed. As far as anyone is aware your characters don't need to be named the same to receive any rewards you just need to add your gw2 account to your ncsoft master account (as the rewards are account wide).

People grinded GWAMM in GW for this rare title, they get to keep the rare title. It's pretty appropriate and I'm not sure why people currently holding the GWAMM title would find it lacking.
EDIT: I see a lot of people resorting to the typical MMO-style elitism and belitting the "casuals" that get item rewards so "easily".
