I just got a Q9 Dom Froggy and it posted on here for 200-250, trying to sell it for 200e..all I get are whipsers for 100-110e sure thats the correct price?

200-250e is the correct price. People just lowball so they can buy low and sell high.

Ignore lowballers in Spamadan (which is most so called "power traders" are anyway), just be patient and it will sell.

I am guessing 180-200e range could be more in keeping with current market offers and actual sales, apart from the usual trade outside mu range.

I thought this might be worth posting here.

I recently just this past week or so got back to trading after having been gone since late Winter/early Spring 2011. Back then, my understanding of Topaz Scepter market was as follows. There was not a big market/demand for them at all, but it was also not something one saw a lot of offered for sale. So it was one of those things that wound up being a royal pain trying to sell or buy. The "PC" I had for them went like ...

• r9 Dom could get ~50-100k (maybe up to 200k, although I never found those buyers) if you found someone shopping for their spoiled Mesmer who had already realized how few of these were around to buy.
• r9 in other than Dom (which means DF, ES, SR, or SP only) could get ~10-20k if you found someone shopping for their spoiled <other> who had already realized how few of these were around to buy. It was even harder to find buyers for these in my experience.
• r>9 versions for everything except Dom seemed to be nearly "merchfood" for the chance one had of finding a buyer. The higher req Dom versions were also pretty hard but more often likely to sell for at least something, eventually.

The last experience I had with these before my break was trying to sell an r9 ES topaz for 15kish buyout in game and on a fansite auction system for weeks without any interest, not even anyone interested in haggling for it that I recall.


I came back and got to trading. I started off listing the stuff I had leftover in my for-sale pile without checking current PC for these at all. On Nov. 3, 2011 I listed the r9 ES mentioned above for the same old 15k b/o on the fansite auction system. Someone bought it out within a few minutes of me posting it, no kidding! They picked it up in game right away.

That's when I saw this new (to me) PC sticky and went and then and then cautiously So, after some browsing my personal collections of way more stuff than I really need or use, I decided I could sell off all but one of my Topaz Scepters. I opted to keep my necro's SR version and see about selling the other two.

I asked a couple friends in game if they knew what was going on with the prices. Each told me their observations made the numbers for r9 dom here seem unrealistically high. (In general cases ... one of these friends is someone whose PC opinions are usually lower than my own; the other's PC opinions are usually higher or about the same as my own. Both are fine and fun folks with whom I enjoy discussing gear and trading and whose opinions and insight I truly value even if we don't always agree.) So I figured, let's just see!

Yesterday, I listed the r9 Dom and the r10 Spawning on the same fansite auction system as b/o only but with comments inviting anyone who wanted to negotiate the prices to get in touch. I listed the r9 dom for 210k (30e) b/o, and it sold within minutes to the same player from a few days before who took my ES version. I listed the r10 spawning for 10k b/o, and it took a long time to sell ... like two whole hours or something ... to a different player.

What insight I can offer about the buyers:

At this fansite, I have ~100 total transactions.

The player who snapped up both my r9 ES for 15k b/o and my r9 dom for 30e b/o has about ~800 with fine looking feedback. I hadn't had occasion to meet or chat with him much before. Speaking with him in game, he told me he was planning to keep the r9 dom for his own Mesmer and had been on the lookout for these topazes. Given the context of our discussion I have no reason to believe he didn't mean it (I thanked him and told him I hoped he enjoyed it or made killer resale profits before he told me he was keeping it.)

The player who took the r10 spawning 10k b/o is someone with over 2000 transactions and great feedback there. We'd met before and traded many things back before I went MIA. He seems a perfectly reasonable, easygoing fellow. From chatting with him in the past, I have the impression he generally finds my PC opinions (at least on buyouts) on the high side. I don't know if he plans to use or flip the one he bought from me, but in the past he seemed to be mostly interested in keeping/collecting things (at least those he bought from me.)



Conclusion?

I'm amazed still, but my very small sample here makes me less at the listed prices for Topaz Scepters.

Been trying to sell my Q10 Tactics Draconic Aegis for a couple of days, keep getting people telling me 10e is too much. Are they just trying to lowball, or is this no longer an accurate price? It was price checked for 60-80k+, so I'm assuming it's the former.

sold Demon Fangs r12 for 30k, the highest offer posted for them on my sell thread for a few days (They were listed at reserve/starting bid 20k and buyout 50k from the beginning.)

I've tried off and on since these dropped for a friend last Winter to sell them at 50k buyout and never found anyone interested. I'm told r12 has cooties.

Well short answer is yes and no.

Longer version is that while the figures in this post are based on historical market values of actual sales and are thus much more accurate than the spam on Argos, actually selling an item is a tricky business and can take time. Remember too that these days people are very fussy. Once upon a time you could sell almost any desired skin with higher requirements, these days most of us won't even consider anything not q9 (unless maybe prot bds or crysta etc). Oh and YES... lowballers... galore... always

I sold a q12 Draconic easy as pie for the figure listed here only a few weeks ago, but I must stress that I spoke to buyer after sale, and he told me he had been after one for ages but could never afford one (he only just had the cash to buy it), ie I was in the right place at the right time.

You need to remember that the prices people quote here on guru do not always reflect demand, so something that could be indeed worth 100e, might not find a buyer for months (for example some rare shield with shitty mods).

In other news, bought a q9 Communing CC 9e (paid 19e for my last one which I use on my Rt) which I mentioned a few posts earlier.

* Can I encourage all of you to keep posting what you are buying/selling things for, so the input helps guide future changes for the OP, I am sure he cannot do it all without our input.

I put up a PC on Amethyst Aegis, q10 tact with a 30 fort and reduce blindness mods. Several replies all quoting it at 10-15k, which seemed nonsense to me. I sold it in less than 30 minutes for 8 ectos in Kamadan (was asking 56k).

I was told it was a common chest drop, and perhaps that is their own experience, though I've never had one drop and it is listed on the wiki as a rare drop. As well, they only drop from the Woe, UW and Slaver's Exile chests....i.e. some of the most difficult chests to pop in the game.

My advice to all is to take the quotes in the PC thread with a great deal of caution. There are thousands of people playing this game and many of them are not privy to common perceptions of price points of the checkers on this forum. Many of the checkers are very informative, knowledgeable and helpful. However, some of them couldn't accurately price an item from the dollar menu at McDonalds.

Difficult my foot... Tommis takes 2 minutes with heroes and a good perma, we salvage q10's all day long for rubies.

I have the Wintergreen things over on the "Greens & Other ..." guide, too. They've been there a couple years now, since we merged the Green PC guide threads by campaign into a single list.

I did not notice you had Wintergreens here until after I sought current PC advice on my spare upon returning to GW after a long break. The PC I got from a few searches and a few trusted friends for the spears in early Nov. 2011 was 200-250e.

Dec. 4 - I sold a Wintergreen Spear for 210e, the buyer's counter offer to my 220e asking price. (Ecto has been a little unstable lately, between 7-8k ea., so 1.47-1.68 M plat value.)

The buyer whispered me while I was playing. He did not say one way or another, but I assume he found my IGN searching argos. I had left WTS Wintergreen Spear ads and checked to make sure they were logged.

Q9 Fire Froggy are very much in demand (have been for more than month of two now), so price should be revised. In fact there was a guy in Kamadan only the only day desperately trying to offer 120e for one
