Coming back to GW(HoM)
donzo
Hi there, I'm new here but I aint so new to Guild Wars.
I started playing first in 2004 when GW came out, played as W/Mo and made a Mo/W for 55hp, quitted in beginning of 06' because all of my friends went to play WoW so I joined them, but I just quitted WoW when Cata came out and I've been keeping myself informed about GW2 for some time.. I´ve decided to buy GW again and do the things for the HoM now my questions is...
Can I easilly do this all within 1-3 months ?
Is it possible to do this everything on only 1 Character?
Incase if its possible to do everything on 1 Character, what would the best profession to do this quickly?

Can I easily do this all within 1-3 months?
Getting the thirty points out of fifty I could see someone doing this within a month or two of dedicated work (five hours a day minimum and more on weekends). You would have to only do the things that would award you most points all together instead of a just one point (You could beat all Factions both NM/HM and capping the Imperial Phoenix on the last mission VS just getting Legendary Defender of Ascalon). I would highly suggest you go through all three main campaigns and just do NM/HM missions and beat them all on one character if you find it easiest for you to do so. I mean it sounds like a lot of work but you could beat Factions in about a day and a half and go to Nightfall and beat it under two-three days if you don't have to do Sunspear Point requirements. Then Prophecies can be run anywhere so you can miss most of the storyline and get done with beating every mission but it would take I guess four-five days. You do have to remember though that this is a game and it's not going to be fun at all if your rushing through every campaign possible eight hours a day in under a week.

I've seen Paragons with God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals so I'll just let you think about that one (Not saying they are impossible to max things with but it certainly was no easy feat unless they IMBA'd every campaign).

Hmm ... I would think Warrior or a Ranger would do good. I mean they both have great armor against most things you face and they can survive pretty well. They are a main class for Guild Wars so you have a lot more diversity of skills to pick from so you won't get bored as easily throughout your journey for HoM points. It's really all up to you because getting these thirty (or fifty) points shouldn't be a job. I mean there's no point dreading the whole existence of guild wars if your having to do some serious work with a profession you can't even stand. I can't really say that though seeing I'm only on 7/30 points because I can never choose a profession I want to stick with. Just work at it and you'll be good before GW2 arrives. It's certainly not being released anytime soon. Good luck.
[You really might want to wait for someone who's been through this all, I'm just stating some things that come to mind]

hi, if you want to get hom points that fast youll have to spend your time getting money rather than titles. to max the title monument youll need a fair bit of time and it represents 18/50 and of those points you can get some just by having all campains .. you can read more about that in a guide to hom. but the rest of the points 32/50 you get just by buying stuff ex. weapon, armor, minipet and hero armor monument.
30/50 gets you all the material stuff in gw2 while 50/50 gets you that + some titles.
1. yes you can get 30/50 easilly under 3 months
2. you can but its going to be difficult to do it that fast
3. i would recomend mesmerer since you can easily get into high end area guilds as a mes spiker. but if you prefer pugs consider a ritualist.

Dervish is good, but if you are a warrior then a Dervish hero is the way to go. Dervish hero with Avatar of Melandru *see wiki* will keep you mostly free of conditions and add some AoE for you.
Warrior character with Dervish hero when needed is my recommendation based on what you like to play.

Warrior is my primary character. Its a decent class for both solo play and within a team. You won't get into many speed-clears (except FoW) but you really shouldn't need to do that. One of my friend's main character is a monk and he has issues soloing with heroes, but with a warrior, you can include just about any hero and still be effective.

30/50 in 3 months:
A big factor is going to be how much you’ve already done just playing the game. When I returned to GW following the siren call of HoM goodies, I was pretty fortunate in that I already had a good head start – one or two sets of elite armour, a smattering of hero awards and a decent collection of minipets, all of which accrued in the course of just playing the game. How much stuff you already have is going to be a big factor in whether you can complete the game in 1-3 months, but even just having finished a campaign is a big, big help in terms of accessing HoM unlocks.
Can it be done on one character?
You can definitely get everything on one character, but there are a few things to be mindful of – for instance, do you really want 5 sets of elite armour for the same character? The same goes for spreading out your stash of elite weapons, if you go down that road. And of course, you’ll need some ranger skills for the lucrative pet points at the HoM... well, you get idea. That said, it is a good idea to have a primary character to keep track of everything and centralise unlocks (such as heroes, etc). Just keep in mind that you might want a token 2nd character for utility reasons.
The age old question - which profession?
As for which class... well, my primary was an ele, and it worked because I enjoy playing the class. That’s about the best advice anyone can give for HoM goals – have fun, and don’t let it become a chore. Nobody’s going to mind whether you have a black widow pet in GW2 or not, so enjoy playing GW1 for its own sake.

1) I have 35/50 and I have only been playing for about 2 months, it's definitely possible.
2) One character is more than enough, but there's no reason you can't have 8 as well
3) Doesn't really matter unless you're looking to get into specific groups for PvE or PvP stuff, so anything will do.
With your question about Warrior vs Dervish for melee, Dervish is only available from the Nightfall campaign and characters created in Nightfall will have a very slow start due to the sunspear rank or level required to continue through the story. If you're looking to start a new character, I would suggest Factions because it's the quickest. Creating a character in Prophecies means you must go to Lion's Arch before you can gain access to the other campaigns and EoTN, and starting in Nightfall means questing until a specific level. Just my $0.02.

^ did you have a sponsor or something because I don't see how you would get the money to buy all of that stuff in 2 months.

I’d recommend against Factions – it might be the quickest to finish, but with no War in Kryta, no elite weapons and no hero set associated with it you won’t have a whole lot to show for your efforts. In fact, the only real rewards for finishing it are a couple of statutes and a phoenix pet... and even then, every other campaign has similar completion statues.

A lot of it was luck from end chests and farming random things every now and then I suppose, but the only thing that costs a lot are zaishen keys xP

You may also want to relax and just get HoM points as they come. 20/50 is quite easy to achieve and will get you quite a lot in GW2.
* 18 white minipets; they are cheap if you focus on 1st and 2nd year and you can pick them up by the ton in Kamadan for decent prices
* a gold minipet; they are easy to get during various festivals and events or to buy otherwise
* a green minipet; this is a bit harder but not outstandingly so; you can always get the baby Black Moa on your own; or buy a Varesh for ~60k; that's assuming you don't luck out on a dungeon chest or Nicholas gift or birthday gift
* you can get at least one Cartographer title maxed out rather easily, plus it's fun to explore (at least for me)
* just by playing through each campaign you get the Tyrian, Canthan and Elonian Protector titles; a rare pet or more; one Tormentor, one Opressor and one Destroyer weapon
* you automatically get MOX to display if you have all 3 campaigns
* a lvl 20 pet and the LDoA title are easy to get over a weekend on a W/R
5 in Devotion, 3 in Fellowship, 8 in Honor, 4 in Valor = 20 easy points.
Dunno about 35, but ~25-30 is rather easy to get and only requires a little time. I'm close to that in a similar time frame and that's just playing very casually and without going out of my way to achieve any of it. I'm not surprised that someone who actually tries has managed 35. 100k will take you very near or over 30 points and 100k is very easy to get just by playing the game. It's the last 15-20 points that are the killer, money-wise (since most of them are armors and consumable titles).

Not really related to the HOM question, but I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that you don't need to buy the game again.
As long as you can recall the email address you registered with, your password and a character name then you can just download the client from the GW website and login, that way you keep anything you may still have and most probably already can start adding stuff toy our HOM.
If you no longer have this information but still have your access keys then contacting support may be an option but I'm not sure how that works.
