Underworld - Phantom Chests

Is there a certain area where the Phantom Chests spawn in the Underworld?
I've only seen a couple once. Ever!
Why is that?

According to the unofficial wiki:
*Note that most locked chests in the Domain of Anguish, the Fissure of Woe, and the Underworld only appear after completing all the quests in the area. This is to prevent chest running.


In other words, they only spawn in a given area after you have done the quests from the reaper of that area....

Some of those Phantom Chests spawn after clearing groups as well. I've noticed it a few times while farming down there.

But if you are interested in UW skins (Inscribable) try running in the Gate of Fear, they drop UW skins fairly commonly.

Total rubbish.

I farm UW solo more than I wish to admit, and chests are random.

In Vale, Plains or whevever, chests may appear or not, and this is long before you ever need to deal with the "reaper" (monuments).

So perhaps the Wiki means you at least have Clear Chamber?

In any case, it categorically has nothing to do with the "reapers", or else I would not be opening so many damn chests prior to even bothering with the Terrorwebs

I see chests quite frequently at wastes with only clear the chamber active..

Now I havn't been in uw often enough to get a picture of that... but I would think it similar to fow, where chests are placed more or less randomly as anywhere else... but they are very few.

Never heard of them spawning only after quests... those I've seen are there both before and after any quests I've done.
Could they be thinking of the chests you can open without any keys that appear near reapers?

This sounds a bit like err outside kaineng ( chest runners will know where i mean ) with the afflicted - there is a spot ( check chestrunners thread ) that has a high spawn chance for a chest but this chest ONLY spawns when you approach the mob otherwise it doesnt appear.Uw is often like this from my past experiences - several runs ive seen chest spawn near first smites , near the coldfires just after , at other end of smites - but you rarely see more than a few times spread out.Once or twice weve had a chest spawn after we approach a mob and we missed it till we realised we forgot an ecto and the comment "was this chest here before as its right next to where we fought" - missing an ecto is bad enough but missing a chest in plain view ?.

Don't rlly know about the chests spawning only after reaching some certain point (like mob) in UW. In example of Kaineng Chest that's true tho. In UW I have seen many chests here an there all the time without completing whole UW. The fact is tho that if you take quest in either FoW or UW they _might_ spawn more chests. And at least at FoW that statement is correct.
