The game provides 8 slots for mercenaries, but that number should be expanded to 20.
The number of potential spots in a party is irrelevant. The point is, different mercenaries could be used for different situations and it would be a welcome convenience for us to draw on a larger roster of potential party members.
And before someone mentions it,...deleting an existing mercenary and signing up a new one is not a replacement for what I am requesting.
Increase total number of mercenaries.

Yes, that would be a great convenience. I would be curious, how do you propose to price it?

Why not just make it 26, i.e. the same number of hero slots as regular character slots? Keep the current pricing but for buying 3 sets of 8 hero slots you get the other 2 free. That means you could make all characters heroes and then just do whatever you like with em...
Tbh I can't be bothered buying these anyway cos i can do what i want with the current entourage so whatever, doesn't bother me.

Make heroes have PvP character-like functions.

Give your customers an inch, and they'll start demanding a mile, eh?
If you're going to complain that eight is too few mercenary slots, why even put another number on the limit of mercenaries? Why do you suppose that it wasn't just made to be limitless in the first place?
Anyways, there is very little besides any twinge of convenience that one might get from having all of these extra heroes lying around to merit the existence of more mercenary slots. It's not like it's that taxing to salvage off runes and insignia, replace the mercenary, and then re-equip them. Perhaps an extra storage pane or two would suit you to hold the upgrades that you aren't using when you have to switch them around.
