Relentless Assassin!
makeitrain43
I have taken what I have learned from my last post/build (Real Assassin...Str8 up Ninja) + advice from you (the people) and have another idea. Im new, so mayb this is out there already but here it is.
Go Edward Scissorhands on em then poof.. becom Legalos
Go Edward Scissorhands on em then poof.. becom Legalos
A/R
16 Crit (12+3+1)
9 Dagger
9 Marksman
3 Shadow Arts
Skills
Shadow of Haste
Jagged Edge
Fox Fangs
Death Blossum
Barrage
Critical Eye
Critical Agility
Way of The Master
Strategy
Step one- Shadow of haste yourself, become one with the shadows
Step two- Focus on your inner chi, use critical agility and critical eye
Step three- Seek out the enemy healer and slice him to pieces
Step four- Continue to slice and dice nearby idiots
Step five- When energy/health is depleted and you need to replenish and refuel, become one with the shadows once more.. simply vanish.
Step six- Prove to your enemies that you have watched the lord of the rings series.. and that your favorite character is the elf (switch to your bow pls)
Step seven- Refuel with your critical hits (study the way of the master)
Step eight- Suffocate.. (DB spam again)
Important tid-bits
With daggers --- 33% IAS, +25 Armor, 32% chance to crit, +4E every crit
With bow --- 33% IAS, +25 Armor, 80% chance to crit!, +4E every crit
So you have the components of DB spam, with an escape (Shadow of haste), and a complete refuel of energy with barrage.
Keys to the play style - The most important problem is that you have to wait for shadow of haste to run out in order to bail. If you can last more than 10 seconds (health and energy wise0 then you have no problem. 0 In the Shadow arts collumn gives you 10 seconds till haste wares off. You have enough stats to boost up shadow arts to 3. So find out your lvl of skill. Obviosly dont draw the first wave of aggro send in your henchies/heroes/other players.
If you can last 10 seconds... this should work. And... from my 3 weeks of playing, mashing 123 (db spam) has alrdy gotten old quick. (but honestly it is very effective) so i took out a little damage and made this build. It requires more work and skill.
If you have any comments that would completely alter the whole build just comment on facebook "im an idiot" instead. lol Im looking for comments that help with the theme. That being said, how will this fare in PVE. Im just a db spammer trying to spice things up. Ill sacrifice a little bit of time/efficiency for interest and difficulty. What do you guys think? thumbs up or down?

Seems like a somewhat fun build to use.
Normaly I wouldn't advice builds that use 2 different weapons because the attribute point spread will get in the way of your effectiveness.
Even if this is the case it seems like a really fun, and challanging build.
I would reccoment to take away your +3 Crit rune and replace it with a +1 Crit rune. 75hp loss is a lot for a 2% extra chance of a critical hit.
And just one other thing, using Shadow of Haste is fun but it won't help you if you get into a dire situation and need to get out fast. Try taking a other stance skill so you can cancel out Shadow of Haste and get out of there. Maybe by dropping Way of the Master.
I do have some other suggestions but these will alter your current build. (But the playstyle will remain the same.)
A/R
12+1+1 Critical Strikes
9+1 Dagger Mastery
9 Marksmanship
Skills
Aura of Displacement
Jagged Edge
Fox Fangs
Death Blossum
Volley
Critical Eye
Critical Agility
Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
Strategy
-Concentrate yourself on your goal, make sure each hit counts (activate Critical Eye and Critical Agility)
-Surprise your enemies with your inhuman speed (use Aura of Displacement)
-Let the killing spree begin (use your dagger chain combo)
-If things get dangerout, get out before they can get you. (stop maintaining Aura of Displacement)
-Call upon a your apprentice, let him do the dangerous stuff (use Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support)
-Blacken out the sky with a rain of arrows (use Volley)
-Jump back in before someone has a change to survive this onslaught.

Used to use something like this going through south end of Factions and RoT in Nightfall. So I'm thinking PvE here.
1. 13 crit strikes is all you need.
2. There are collector bows in Kryta in Prophecies that only require marks 6 yet are 13-25, 15%>50. Not much difference between these bows and a full powered bow of 15-28 for a build like this and you save 3 marks points. The Ascalon Flatbow marks 6 from Daved Logsdon rocks!
3. With the points saved from crit and marks, ramp up daggers or shadow.
4. A vampiric string on a bow noticeably improves damage but may be more weapons switching trouble than you want.

Shadow of Haste has quite the recharge for its duration with 3 in Shadow Arts and that attribute really doesn't really offer much except Death's Charge unless you have some sort of running or speed clear build. You could toy with Caltrops. Seriously drop Barrage and any bow skills for Way of the Assassin, Moebius Strike or even Flashing Blades.
You shouldn't have to worry about bailing or shadow stepping out.

I have played the db spam for 3 weeks now. Only 3 and its already old. C spacebar, 123, c spacebar 123. Oh something went wrong somehow i have low health, shroud of distress and refuge.. c spacebar 123. Its old man. Maybe the bow idea is dumb, i havent tested it out yet. But being able to tele out of a fight and make it rain seems a little bit more challenging and fun.

About the 75 hp loss, its not for only 2% crit. Its for critical eye, agility, and way of the master. So it gives +2% (critical strikes attribute), + 2% (critical eye), + 4% for bows (way of the master. So it's a -75hp loss for 4% crit for daggers and 8% crit for bows, plus duration length on critical eye and agility. That being said, is -75hp loss worth the plus 4/8% crit and duration length (a couple of seconds)... probably not lol. Nice point, when ever i figure out how to change from being an A/MO to A/R ill remember this.
For the aura of displacement idea.... you made a very good point. With AD you control when you get out of the battle, rather than waiting for shadow of haste to kick in on its own. The replacement of volley for barrage b/c of the AD for shadowstep is good. I innitially chose shadow of haste and barrage simply bc i thought barrage was immensly better than volley. But after reading the description again it hits the target and up to 3 others. so 4 arrows (if all were crits) could yield 16e, netting a plus 11E gain which totally fits the purpose of barage. Although it has a 2 second recharge compared to a 1 sec recharge for barage.... I wonder if it will matter.
And lastly, the ebon assassin thing... Iv been all over wiki and such looking at assassin skills.. never saw that until you posted it. Idk how to get it or where to. I havent beaten factions yet... may take a while lol. But.. that seems like a real cool idea.
Ok, lastly for reals.. You gave me a minor idea.. lol. The ebon vangaurd assassin skill, has a big recharge so you cant spam it. Could someone take advantage of Assassins promise and this skill to make a small fleet? Also, this whole idea of shadowstepping out of the battle to do something from range derrived from an idea i had about scorpion wire. The idea would be to tele in, cast scorpion wire, shadow step out... which would immediatly shadowstep you right back into the battle and you have now knocked down your target. Then repeat. I thought it would b cool for the player and the other ppl playin to see me goin back and forth, i havent used scorpion wire so idk if the skill itself looks cool. My characters name is Scorp Ion Zero. only if assassins had a skill to freeze its targets lol i really appreciate the help man. AD looks like the better choice for this build

Ratman beat me to it. I think AoD with Volley is a much stronger option. Also, I'll never ever run 16 CS... even when you're poofing in and out it's just too much health loss.
May be a very fun build, especially first time through the game on a new toon or something... might have to try it out!

new toon mean new character?

Read the wiki article on Critical Rates and see how they stack first. It's not simple addition.
The component of having an "escape" isn't that great. All that means instead of them attacking a frontliner that's somewhat bulky, it goes after your casters and squishies. Not being able to have any control of it means it could have disastrous results. Stance removal results in you randomly teleporting when you don't want to. It seems that you're using Barrage just for the e-manage. Auto-attacking with daggers should be enough for energy management and can actually provide more damage with SoH. If you're stubborn to use a bow though, use a Volley instead.

You know, it might not be a bad idea on this to preemptively load up Splinter Weapon via a hero and aggro with Volley -> AoD (or Barrage -> Haste if you're insistent upon it). Lots of places mobs ball up when you get close. Abuse that and open with some Splinter + Volley damage then jump in.
Rather than trying to finish with Volley, of course, because realistically DB is just too much damage to not try to get out again.

recall! And the attribute thing someone suggested is nice. Lol i love ur idea tho. I will try it out.

It's a HIGHLY unused skill, but Ebon Escape could fill the role of what you are trying to do very well. It may sound difficult, but it's a short recharge shadow step that, in balanced teams, allows you to zip back to the backline while simultaneously healing yourself and an ally.
...then once you've shot up some people, use it again on a frontliner to zip on back.

I love Ebon Escape when I'm messing around.
As far as any of the Ebon Vanguard skills, makeitrain43, they are PvE-only skills from Eye of the North. You get them from completing quests for the Ebon Vanguard NPCs.
You don't need a Superior Critical Strikes Rune, go with the Minor, even when using a weapon other than Daggers.
If you want to recharge skills, look at the Deadly Arts Elite Skill Assassin's Promise. It's used in conjunction with Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support to do exactly what you're wanting to do - create a personal army of ninjas.
As far as other people telling you "This would be more efficient", it may very well be; most skill combinations/build ideas have been tried at this point in Guild Wars' run, and many players are only concerned with the most efficient builds. But you've already stated that you don't want to move too far away from your original concept, and to that, I say: This is your game, not theirs; play it how you want to, and have a blast doing so.

Sounds like better spread.
