It says that the serial key is already in use
Andri20
Hi! Today I ordered a new copy of Guild Wars EOTN, From NCsoft webpage.
Ok, they sent me Serial key and everything, payment was done. Then I tried to add the serial key ingame to the existing Guild Wars account and it says that the serial key (what NCSoft sent me), is ALREADY IN USE, and I couldn't use it.
I did send also a email to NCSoft about it. Anyone might know what might be the problem? And how long it should take to get a answer from NCSoft?
Thanks,
Andri

Hi,
That is very strange. The only thing you can do about it is contact support, which you've already done. They don't work in weekends, so you'll probably get a reply on monday. Hope it helped.
Also, check very close on the numbers. Are you absolutely sure you did not make any mistakes?

When you buy an add-on for your Guild Wars account from the NCsoft page, it should have asked you what account you want to add it to. They just send you the serial to your email, just in case you got 'hacked' and need it as proof.

It even shows that I have added the expansion to my account and everything should be fine... but still I Cant play EOTN... maybe im doing something wrong? I have prophecies atm and if i log in, nothing changes, it's still prophecies... and no EOTN...

Did you try visiting Lion's Arch?

When you log into your account and before you select a character to play, choose "Edit Account" (Click Next) then "Manage Access Keys" (Click Next). On the View Content Rights section you should see "Guild Wars Eye of the North" listed.
Andri20
Yes, it's there... I went to Kaineng, and some people told me that I need to make a quest in order to get to EOTN? true? Cause I tried the quest and I cant complete it alone - too hard for me.
GODh
True, but you dont need to do it solo... you are allowed to bring heroes and/or henchmen. And DONT fight the destroyers (i think you are not supposed to beat them), just run...
Andri20
Thanks for advice. I completed the quest, talked with a guard for reward and after that I could enter Embark Beach continent. But still, does it means I am in EOTN now? or Am I still missing something? Because map looks still the same like in prophecies.. no new places etc..
john5813
If you completed the mission and can now fast travel to an outpost named Boreal Station, then yes you are now in Eye of the North. Embark Beach has nothing to do with it.
FoxBat
Fighting your way north of Boreal Station will eventually take you to Eye of the North outpost. EotN areas share the same world map as Prophecies, but the zones are all different.

Just to clear some of the confusion about the serial key. When you buy one from the NCSoft website, they do NOT send the serial to you in email and they do NOT automatically apply the key to your account. The way to use it is to log in to your NCSoft account and apply the key to one of the linked GW accounts.
You never get to see the actual serial, btw, and you can't use the key you bought outside the GW accounts linked to the NCSoft account that you bought it on.

What are you smoking? They do send you the serial access key to the email you used to sign up. That's a proof of ownership just in case your account gets 'hacked' and you need to submit a hacking report.

I suggest when you buy something for guild wars, do it through the GW store after you login, there it's auto attatched to your account. much safer that way, incase your email has been hacked.

I'm not sure about your circumstances, but here's how a purchase goes on the website: (1) you HAVE to log in to an NCSoft account; (2) you purchase a campaign; (3) you receive an email, but it only shows the last 4 digits of the serial code, the rest is XXXX'd up; (4) the code is placed in your account (again, masked with XXXX) and you can apply it to a linked GW account.
Let me repeat what I said: for campaigns purchased online directly from the NCSoft WEB store, at no time do you get to see the actual serial code. Not before, not after, not ever.
It makes sense, actually. You don't need the code for anything. It's in your account already, that's as good a proof as it gets. In fact, exposing the code at any given point would only INCREASE the chances of it being hijacked before it's applied on a GW account.
I suspect you are referring to a purchase made in-game, from a non-linked GW account. In that case you might receive the serial code via email, I do not know.
I felt I needed to mentioned the above because a friend of mine didn't know that a web purchase never releases the serial code, and the website doesn't say so explicitly. So when he tried to get a code as a present for his girlfriend he found out it is forever "locked" inside his NCSoft account with no way to pass it over. The only way was to link her GW account to his NCSoft account (luckily, she was not yet linked) in order to be able to apply the code to her account. Otherwise the code would have been sitting there useless (he already had all campaigns). Here's hoping they don't break up, otherwise it's going to be awkward.

My account is linked and I got a full serial code in all my confirmation emails. From costumes, to EOTN, to BMP. I bought some from in game and from the website directly.
Why they don't show the entire thing on their website is beyond my comprehension. Maybe they figure a person's email is more secure than their own shitty website?
And trust me, assuming that someone is smoking is polite considering what I am really thinking.

I think they don't show it on the website as people might make a purchase in a public area, showing the entire code forms a risk. If you open you mail in public, it's your responsibility, not theirs.

My buddy showed me the confirmation email with the masked serial and a whole discussion thread with support on this topic. This is what he's been told: you never get the clear serial, and the only way to use it is from the NCSoft account, on a linked GW account, period.
If he was singled out for some reason, while other people get the full serial, it's news to me (I got all my campaigns boxed and everything else from the in-game store so I can't confirm either way).
So: if you bought a campaign (P/F/NF), from the NCSoft webshop, on a NCSoft account with a linked GW account, within the last month, you got the full serial in email, and the email was with a public service (eg. Yahoo, Gmail etc.), please tell me.
Maybe it's a recent policy change. Maybe it's something else. I imagine he will want to ask support what gives, since this has caused him quite a bit of headache and basically forced him to link his gf's account to his.
