Hey there everyone!
I have a few casters with caster melee weapons and I was wondering if there is a possibility of turning off (or disabling) the auto attack feature. It is quite annoying to hack and slash at my enemies when I am casting and would prefer to be at a range. If you know any way to help this issue or a way around it please help!
Thanks
Disabling Auto Attack?

The only workaround I can think of is using spears. You can mod spears the same way like melee weapons, but you autoattack from range.

I dont know a feature to turn that off... i think your best bet is to use a spear (same kind of mods, but with a ranged weapon).

This is why people started using spears on their casters instead of swords.

ehhh just don't attack?
For a hero I can see the issue but for a human player just don't attack and youll be ok...lol

Try enabling double click to interact.

Try and see if you can move the mods to a spear for little or no cost. If not, you could always just click on your enemies and just hit (S) to backup and not attack and every time you cast a skill just hit S to back up again.

Use shift when you click a foe. Use ctrl+shift+space to call a target.

Yeah, but as soon as he casts something on that foe I think he would start auto-attacking as well.

As long as you only target an enemy, (say, by using TAB to find your target) and only cast spells (not attack skills), you will not Auto-attack. If you do find yourself attacking (because you used spacebar or pinged a target), simply back up or strafe to "break" the auto-attack.
You could also re-assess your build and/or playstyle to determine if using a melee weapon is really the only/best choice. In many cases you'll find that what little benefit you get by carrying the melee weapon (or spear) is not worth the auto-attack hassle.

You'll really be doing only like 1-5dmg with your auto attack spear anyway.
