Gifts of the Traveler: sell or use?

This was probably asked already, but which has better value in the long run: selling or using up the gifts? I see people selling them for 4-4,5K (or even 5K, although I think thats way too much for one gift). Appreciate your thoughts.

Depends, when you are a title hunter you can use them. If not best is to sell them, the chance to get something with some value is low and even then it's not going to make you rich.

I am just to curious to sell them so now I got stacks of summoning stones and consumable titles maxed for my main.

Sell them if you need the money. If not, try your luck. On rare occasion you get good stuff. Swords, travelers walking stick staff, etc. But those are rare. You can go for months without seeing a really great item.

If not candy, sparklers, occasional booze, champagne poppers, summoning stones, fireworks. I happen to enjoy opening the gifts.

can you afford to open them? if not, sell them if you are short on money(it's not worth the 0.001% chance of getting something valuable such as a gwen doll)

IMHO Traveler gifts, coffers, zchests, bday gifts etc. are basically lottery tickets. (With some notable exceptions, such as the 6th bday.) You're vastly more likely to make some decent money by selling them unopened than by hoping you'll get something amazing. It's the principle all lotteries and casinos etc. are built on -- people can't resist testing their luck. Even when people who've opened countless such things can attest to getting nothing great out of it, we still can't help ourselves.

With these gifts compared to a lottery ticket, you are guaranteed to win something.
10 sparklers worth 1k together is a loss compared to the price of gift, but you always get something. Personally I love lotteries and gifts with a chance of getting something great, and I can easily afford to have an average loss. I do not buy gifts, but I farm every week to get 10 gifts from my 2 accounts. To me it is not important that I get maybe 20k worth of stuff where I could have sold the 10 gifts for 45k.
Btw you can easily make money from the gifts without even farming. You can buy the required items from farmers from prices between 3k and 10k, go visit Nick and sell the gifts if you like.
I personally like farming for this, since its new item and new monsters each week it never gets real old for me.

Nick Gifts are like lotto tickets. I have opened less than 150 gifts to get 2 gwen dolls, next best thing are the rock candies, and bunch of other useless things. Since then I havent opened a single one, stockpiled about 3 stacks right now.

Sell, and if you need the items buy them for cheaper, if you need the minis save up from selling each week, or if your just after money get the guaranteed return....unless your one of those people....

those people that show up in the annual canthan new year lunar fortunes threads declaring "I opened 10 fortunes and got 5 minis. Later I opened 1 more and got 2."

I did the math on this over a year ago, and at the time it was much better to sell than to open. The value of the items has changed, gerenally speaking everything is worth less. So if it made sense to sell at 4k a year ago, it makes even more sense now.

It's just so much fun to open them! Since I'm not too buggered out by money, I open them.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. So basically if someone goes for the money, then selling would be better option, because even if you need the titles, you can buy the drinks, sweets cheaper. Opening gifts is for those who like the occasional excitement of not knowing what you get (or the possibility of rare drops).

It depends ... That's quite the same as zchest or royal gifts.... 3-6k for having 95% of time something worth 500gold is quite hard , but if you do not care of money like me , it's always fun to open.... It's a bit less after you opened 200 times and not get anything but well...

I've opened 10 in total since it was put ingame , and I get at least 5 a week, sometimes 10 depending on if I have an absurd amount of the collected item.

So no, I don't think it's worth it. The best I got was merc summon, candy... rest was alcohol worth 15K (keg) at the time I opened it and random crap that is <4K (jar of honey, honeycombs). I had an icy dragon sword, but I think I got that from a ice imp and sold it for 15k.

Look at it this way:

10 Hunter's Ale = 1K
10 Aged Hunter's Ale = 1-3K
1 Keg of Aged Hunter's Ale= ~15K
10 Honeycombs = ~3K
10 Jars of Honey = ~2K

5 Green Rock Candies* (about 5%)
5 Blue Rock Candies* (about 5%)
5 Red Rock Candies* (about 5%)

10 Champagne Poppers/ 10 Bottle Rockets/ 10 Sparklers = 1k?
5 Crate of Fireworks = 3k?
3 Disco Balls = 3k?
5 Mysterious Tonics = 1K?
5 Cottontail Tonics = 1K?
1 Everlasting Cottontail Tonic = 100K?
1 Everlasting Crate of Fireworks = 30K?

1 Gwen Doll = >100K (0.033%)
1 Miniature Yakkington = >100K (0.060%)
1 Brown Rabbit = > 100K (0.047%)

1 Inscribable Vampiric Dragon Sword = 15K? (0.200%)
1 Traveler's Bo Staff = 15K? (0.286%)
1 Traveler's Walking Stick = junk AFAIK
1 Inscribable Icy Dragon Sword = 15K (0.186%)
1 Inscribable Ascalon Razor = junk AFAIK

5 Mysterious Summoning Stones = ~1-2K?
5 Mercantile Summoning Stones = 1.5 - 2K

1 Moss Spider Egg = 20K

With the money I made, I bought a brown rabbit + moss spider egg. I don't want gwen doll so it's all good. Once you factor in time to sell, the stuff over 100K are the only things worth getting because 10-25K-ish over the 4K Gift cost is negligible when you can make that in an hour doing DOA/FOWSC/Daily quest.

In the short run, you may want the gold, but in the long run you'll wish you kept the stuff.
