I recently made a Dervish and have decided to mess around with a secondary profession. I've seen builds for a Monk secondary for the 130hp build, Assassin for its added mobility, Elementalist for ranged and added dps, but I really haven't found one that feels right.

What are your preferred dual profession builds for Dervish DPS?

You need to be more specific about what doesn't "feel right", because the Dervish on its own is already quite the little DPS factory. If you pile even more on top of that and you still aren't feeling good about it, I'm stumped.

* How exactly are you using Ele skills for added DPS? If you tried Conjure spells, for example, what about them didn't satisfy you?
* Do you mean single-target DPS instead of multi-target? Perhaps you want to try a Warrior or Assassin weapon.
* What numbers do you get when you test on the Master of Damage? Just to give you an idea, 30 DPS is considered a decent average for Normal Mode.
* Do you mean Normal Mode or Hard Mode? What areas, what foes?

Give us some builds and equipment you tried, explain what's wrong etc.

I was using the Elementalist skills primarily for the conjure skills and the fact Firestorm is a nice AoE pull. I still haven't gotten to grab (assuming its not limited to just Elementalists) Meteor Shower.

I'm looking to find a nice build for both single target and multi target dps. So far my multi target has been good but I feel like I'm just not pulling the numbers single target.

I actually haven't been to the Master of Damage. I'm new to GW and I'm actually pretty excited that you mentioned him, I'm going to have to check him out later this evening.

I guess overall what I'm looking for is either a build that compliments the AoE abilities of the scythe, or a build with the ability to have solid mid-range abilities while not taking away too much from the damage output in melee range.

I'm not sure how the community feels towards WoW, but it was my game of choice up until I switched to GW to get ready for GW2. I always preferred classes like the Paladin and the Dervish feels a lot like a Vanilla WoW Paladin because of the enchantments and how it revolves around breaking and reapplying them. But the problem is Paladins in WoW have several mid range abilities that really help with pulling and fleeing enemies and I wouldn't mind trying a few secondary professions that would compliment that. My other favorite archetype has always been the warrior and with the Dervish's AoE abilities I can see why that's a good secondary profession for it.

Dervish have Signet of Pious Restraint for snaring down foes and I often use it on a build similar to bellow:

Conjures mean converting your damage type and that conflicts with many synergy skills from the necromancer.

Building like a hybrid is generally awful in GW due to the skillslot restriction. Find out what you are supposed to be doing and build towards it. Melee players are there for damage. It is a noob-trap to, for example, taking "tanking" or healing skills when playing a Warrior since if you have a decent backline you shouldn't need them in the first place. Build towards damage, the only exception is when the skills themselves are extraordinarily powerful and by that virtue alone warrants a spot ("Save Yourselves!" is a good example).

With that said, you should pick a secondary profession that either enhances your ability in melee (Whirlwind attack etc) or feeds on it (SY!). The only profession I've found does both of these when playing Dervish is the Warrior or maybe Assassin in some cases. Keep in mind that the Dervish class is fairly standalone, most of the time skills from the secondary profession are fairly excessive.
