Consumables Merchant
Absolute Destiny
Okay, this has been bugging me for months now, especially as I've been doing WiK and random quests in EoTN.
I never use consumables. Ever.
Not as a bragging point, but because I have too many other things to pay attention to (using my skills, and sometimes micromanaging 7 heroes) to take time to open my inventory and use stuff mid-combat.
Thus, every time I open a Royal Gift, or get a free Armor of Salvation, Star of Transference, Essence of Celerity, etc etc etc. it just sits in my storage until I can find a buyer, sometimes hours later.
I don't need the money, but I do have very limited amounts of time to play the game per day, and I'd rather not waste it spamming the trade window while jumping back and forth across continents.
Plus it takes time and effort to do the quests which give consumables as rewards, so I'd rather not just flush 'em.
I'd like to have a Consumables trader added to the major cities ingame, similar to the Material traders we have now.
Except that this trader would be BUYING ONLY, not selling.
Essentially, I want a black hole to dump all my consumables for some kind of monetary compensation.

LOL, give em away for 5k/set and you'll have em sold within 5 minutes, guaranteed.
So to your idea;
/NOT SIGNED!!!!!!!!!!!
Not is this totally unnecesary, it's also the worst idea i've read on here so far. And i've seen ALOT of bad ideas come up since the 7 hero update which made people think they can just go for any ridiculous thing since 7 heroes is kinda ridiculous too (0 balance in PvE, yes 7 heroes is ridiculous).
Luckily, the team still has a brain and won't waste their time on crap like this.

A cons merchant wouldnt be able to match player market prices.
How would you tell the npc that the normal conset ( armor of salvation/essence of celerity and grail of might ) price is 8-9k ?
How would you feel if that conset you sold to npc for 500g is worth 8-9k .
Ignoring the npc buy prices as the player market tends to set its own prices - consets , cupcakes out of season can be worth more than cupcakes at the event and the players set the prices.
If your worried about crap from nicks gifts/royal gifts then either dont open them or sell the items to guildies who are doing titles - heck armor of salvation could have the other 2 parts added and be worth 8-9k , most items you will find can be sold real fast , i opened 10 gifts before and it took me only 5 mins to sell the items to my friends who were doing title tracks.

Sounds like a pretty big waste of time. Pretty sure you would just end up increasing the price of consumables and probably crafting mats.
I don't really understand why it bothers you if you don't need the money. If you're not looking to make that money to buy armor/runes/skills/weapons immediately then just save them until someone is buying or you actually want to use them.
As a side note; Armor of Salvation, Essence of Celerity and Grail of Might last for half an hour. I could maybe understand if you were talking about alcohol but seriously, you don't have time to double click an item once every 30 minutes? You must play really intensely.

Back on topic: I would have to disagree. The main problem I see with this type of trader is that it would only buy from players. How would ANet go about setting the price he buys the cons from people? That would require literally constant updating to be done by the staff, which honestly, isn't worth the manpower.
The only idea I can come up with right now that may work is that the consumable sellers themselves will buy the cons back for x% of the original materials and money used to make them. What percentage, I have no clue lol :P

If you don't need the money, just give them to friends/guildies/random Kamadan people.
Or sell them for significantly lower than the market price.
Don't see what you are whining about.

I think it would better to add a value to them, instead of creating a seperate trader. so you can sell them to merchants.

Im kind of surprised at all the negativity to this idea. Its not like it has any downsides.
I'm also in the same boat as the OP. The only cons that I use are the sweet tooth ones, and I only use those for the title. Currently, I just give away any spare cons to my guild's bank, but it would be nice to make some cash off of individual parts of a conset without having to deal with the whole WTB/WTS stuff. The value of each could be fixed to what its current value is in the market.

Anything that cuts down on wasted time needing to sell endless stacks of shit is a good thing in my book, but at this point in the game I just don't see it being worth the effort to implement.
It would converge on to the market price in exactly the same way that the material traders do, obviously.

I had the same problem actually. I accumulated like, 6 Armors of Salvation and a bunch more consumables that I don't even remember the names of. I think a better idea would be to just make them worth 250g at the merchant. I'd just sell them there. It's not worth making a whole trip to Kamadan and sitting in the trade window for x minutes trying to sell them for 1k/apiece. I tried that, and literally could not find a buyer, so I just trashed them.
/notsigned for Consumables Merchant.
/sign to give them some value at actual Merchant, even if it is something relatively small like 250-500g.

It seems weird to me when ppl say about selling in kamadan - if you have consets to sell most players would be in 1 of 2 places - ToA or DoA as thats probably the most used places for selling them and i rarely seen anyone at all selling consets.
In ae dists in toa i think theres usually between districts a conset seller and rarely could you go there and not find 1.Doa may depend on time of day but consets & toa are hotspots - uwsc/fowsc .

Not to be cruel, but this doesn't sound well thought out or might even be a trolling attempt.
In the amount of time it would take to go to a town with a trader and unload the cons, you could go to ToA and sell them for 5k per set or even 2k a piece and unload them quickly. While making a healthy profit.
Honestly, who says they would never need cons? I keep a bunch that I rarely use, but they are nice when I want to do endgame content or I'm attempting a difficult vanquish.

Since the suggestion doesn't involve them selling, the material trader price mechanism would have you getting 1g for each one relatively quickly.
It doesn't take much time to go into Spamaden, see what the current asking price is and half it (or whatever percentage will get you the sell time you want). The power traders will snatch them up quickly and make money off of you.

A buy only npc would be a merchant. A merchant would offer half of the value that they cost to buy. So your looking at for example 500g for a powerstone and 125g for essence of celerity. That low of a payout wouldn't be worth selling to a merchant. If you want to sell fast just lower the price below other players, spam it in kamadan and you'll be done in a few minutes.

So you want to get rid of them, while getting money from it?
There is a way already.
Use them. You'll save time thanks to the advantage they give you, and time is gold.

Give them away to friends or sell them for cheap. I guarantee if you sold sets for 5k each at temple of ages or gate of anguish you wouldn't be selling them for more than 5 minutes unless you have a ridiculous number of them.
Or just use them. You don't have to manage them in the middle of a fight; that is a horrible excuse. You use them once when you enter the zone, and if you are in the zone longer than the duration which will be uncommon when you are using consets, you can wait until the fight is over to use them again. There is literally no reason you would need to use them in the middle of a fight.

I am one of those people that would absolutely love to buy for cheap. Heck, I'll even buy closer to normal price. I just need more money

/not signed. Those things aren't that hard to sell in Kamadan or ToA, nor are they that hard to use while out and about.

Go to ToA and shout, "WTS Cons, 100g each". I guarantee you that you won't be standing around for very long to get rid of them.
Essence Snow
If you don't want to spam (although at prices u'd get from a trader u'd sell extremely fast) you could in about the same amount of time it took to make this thread....make a sell thread down in the venturi section.....Wts Consumables.....name your prices and if they are not all jacked up you'll sell them very fast w/o spamming

I found a magic trick to make cons disappear!
-Enter explorable area/mission/dungeon with cons in question.
-Open your inventory
-Double-click on the item "Holy Grail", "Armor of Salvation", and/or "Essence of Celerity"
-If you should die, do the same as mentioned in the second step, only double click on the item named "Powerstone of Courage".
