Dell Studio 14z (out of warranty)
Dell apparently "does not have the part in stock".
Fan: Sunon MG62090V1-Q060-G99
Cannot find it anywhere online.
The laptop runs just fine except for the fan problem. Are there any suggestions as to how I can repair my machine?

Well, it could be fun. It depends somewhat upon how generic the present fan is. If it has some sort of specialized only-fits-one-model housing it could be very hard to replace. Next possible problem after that is that it may have a very small proprietary connector.
But, if it's a more-or-less standard round or rectangular shroud, and/or if it's just a bare fan (no shroud) mounted into the frame with (usually) 2 or 3 very small screws, you may be able to find a replacement at a local computer repair/equipment place, or on some online parts places like NewEgg. If you can remove the fan, you could take it with you to stores to compare it for size and connector, etc.
There are chipset and GPU fans that are similar in size to some laptop fans.

Had the same problem with my Dell desktop twice and it was a major pain in the ass to find a replacement as my desktop had a non-standard housing. Working through Dell the first time was a pain and fortunately I saved the part-number and that sort of information and was able to find a replacement I believe on NewEgg. I would consider yourself lucky Dell doesn't have the part it will save you headaches in the long run. My xeperience with them has been less than stellar.

You could try look for a defect computer of same brand on ebay and use it for spare parts. Sometimes you can find them very cheap. Just because the screen happen to be cracked doesn't mean all other parts are damage.

This website is usually good, but alas, no luck.

Dell in non-standard component shocker.
They've always done this. The cynic in me suggests that it's so they corner the market in after sales for their own products.
Hmm, then again, straightforward facts are hardly cynicism.

@bsoltan: That is my forum post at Dell. Hoping for more posts but not expecting any.
@all: Thanks for all the replies so far. Glad to see my frustration with Dell is warranted. Disassembled the computer myself and cleaned it (found a number of problem areas that were allegedly "cleaned" by the first technician I had take a look at it). Attempting reassembly later, as the replacement part will cost a minimum of $60 and I will be trying to minimize costs.
