I've been running rit for a little while and just have a quick question... When you run the Prot build, when using Armor of Unfeeling. Does that help to keep the spirits alive longer or is the skill only useful when there being attacked directly?
Thanks for the help,
Dom

Well, as far as I remember, it's only when they're attacked. And since PvE has much AoE, it contributes to spirits being up longer. Doesn't apply to spirits just standing in clear area.
@ok, missed the point here. Anyways, the damage in the skill description for prot spirits is armor ignoring I think.

Health is health loss, you can't make it lose less.

From wiki: "This skill affects the health loss of Shelter and Earthbind, but not that of Wanderlust or Agony."

Considering that Union and Displacement take damage instead of health loss, the answer is yes, AoU actually helps the spirits live longer even if they aren't directly attacked.

Yes it works, but I wouldn't use it because if your spirits go down and you put them back up, you need to wait for AoU to recharge and use it again for them to be affected.

Heroes also use it terribly, only when spirits get attacked. Hence my dislike of the skill, and even though I do micro a lot, I don't like to do that kind of micro before every battle.

With regard to the health of spirits, an often overlooked fact is that Summon Spirits also heals the spirits (even if the spirits don't move far ). In many cases, taking another spirit rather than Armor of Unfeeling, and using SS to heal works out better in the long run.

EDIT - btw, my Resto build does include AoU, and I just yesterday had an opportunity to use my Resto during a Zaishen quest (GOLEM). There were very few times when the spirits were directly attacked (plus I was able to move them away and heal them with SS) so AoU had little effect there. AoU did reduce the damage to Union though, but overall, that wasn't a big deal.

^AoU has an awesome effect, but its downside is recharge. Summon Spirits makes that downside much less of an issue, so if you bring SS there is not much reason not to bring AoU.
