Hey guys. I hope this is the right sub-forum :P
I'm trying to make a mod that changes the textures in Jade Quarry to that of more wintery. I exported the texture in texmod as a png, then edited it in photoshop.
However, as these white squares have been continuously appearing no matter my edits, I came to a conclusion later to attempt to reinsert the same PNG I ripped while making the mod. And the white squares still appear!
Specifically, when I rip the texture as a PNG, they DO appear slightly different than they do ingame. As traditional square textures, as opposed to all the different shapes the ground texture rip showed ingame.
Anyone know what may be wrong in what I'm doing to make this mod?

u altered some texture that seems to be tied into the floor textures and is altering them there also. go trough ur textures and remove them one by one and see if it fix's them

Nope.. But I have a feeling it might be because I ripped them as a .png? Ripping as a DDR and loading in paint.net works. But I want to be able to rip it to a photoshop friendly format.

Certain image formats cause trouble when using TexMod because they don't store the alpha channel data properly (if at all). Using .ddr gets around this issue. I use GIMP, though I needed to specifically download a ddr plugin before I could use it. Perhaps you need to do the same for photoshop. Google it.

Ok. After I decided to mess with floor textures more, now they're having a black background ingame. Any specific settings I use when I save back to ddr?

I follow the instructions here and it works for me (although I've only done armor and cape stuff so I don't know if environment stuff comes out differently): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVwjH_yURbM

Oh, ok. Awesome
Now, say I wanted to replace environments. Normally this should be easy since ANET compiles a ton of times into one tidy image. However, there are certain "fake" textures in Guild Wars which appear only sometimes when you view a texture from a distance. They look like normal terrain ingame, but in texmod they come out as fake:
What techniques can I use to find and edit them all?

I'm not really sure about environments. If a map is a bunch of individual textures then you'll probably need to go through and edit them one by one. Perhaps there's a better way, but I don't think TexMod is really designed for making such large edits easy. It'll be a lot of work either way. What did you want to edit it to?

I wanted to change all the tacky frozen water of the Jade Sea from its jade color to a more icey white, making it seem like a frozen mountain range instead of ugly jade =/
Yeah, right now it looks like crap, but it's just a start. As you can see in the back, there is still jade =/
It also does not work in the minimal graphic setting. And on the high graphic setting, the glare is WAY too strong.

To fix the glare issue (it's to do with the aforementioned alpha channel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBIZU...eature=related

As for the jade in the distance, that IS a pain in the ass but you gotta search through all of them and find them.

Yes, but is there any way to load my custom textures at the same time as I go in "ripping" mode so that I may see the differences what are those weird textures, and what are not? Or any way to load all those in the map at the same time?
Marty Silverblade
It's possible to merge all the new textures into a single .tpf so you only need to load a single file when in package mode. Not sure on retrieving them, but you can always try. Just rip a texture, go to the next one, then rip that one too. See if you've got both saved (which you probably should). There are probably more youtube videos that show you how to do things like this; have a look and hopefully you'll find something if you need it.
