Talus Chute vQ: Wtf.
Eloise Naturi
So i started Talus Chute vQ this morning, did every mob i could find, and then as per normal big area vQ's found i had missed one somewhere along the way. So i retraced my steps, checked the whole map. Nothing. Did it again. Nothing. Did it again the opposite way round. Nothing. Eventually had to stop playing, and was left with 99% of foes killed with one group i couldn't find after about 30 minutes of searching. Anyone had a similar experience with this area, or does anybody know about any glitches?
Thanks

My guess is that that missing foe was still there but very elusive, maybe patroling. Not tried it with Talus chute, but had similar experience in a area in factions where eventually after 4 full map searches I found that last one, which ofc. had been patroling. Not saying there can't be a bug or glitch, but I never exrienced not finding the last one in the end.

Iirc theres a Summit mob that can patrol through a portal which makes it impossible for you to kill them afterwards and hence you can't finish the vq.
The Seer
There is also a patrol of Avicara that runs near where the Ice Imps are. That one somehow evaded me and it took around 10 mins to find it.

The patrol of avicara that runs through the portal to Ice Dome seems to be the problem. This happened to me a few weeks ago and I actually chased the patrol after spotting them on the radar, only to catch up in time to see them disappear through the portal. In the Wiki it mentions that you can wait by the portal for them to come back, then kill them, but I don't know if that works - I waited for quite a long time. In the end I just gave up (with much muttering and cussing I should add) and did it again a few days later.

So what I'm hearing is that it would be wise to begin the VQ from Ice Dome?

There's sometimes a solitary ice golem next to the portal to camp rankor. He doesn't go through the portal, but players starting from Droks or Ice Caves often don't go beyond the azure boss group by the res shrine in the north-west corner of the map.

A few weeks ago had a similar problem but, I just had a run around the map and walla they appeared again and were walking away from the portal.
So mabe I was lucky but they did come back again

When I vanquished it I was ready to look for the final mob, and I was sick of running around the map looking for it. I recall being frustrated, afking on the narrow mountain/bridge thing at the back for over an hour for dinner.
When I came back I had vq'd it.

I hate talus chute for this, It is the only vq I have left in Tyria thanks to the last foe(s) I can't find. Will try again some other day

Exit Drocks, vanq up to Icedome.
You will easy catch the patrol with the Siege Gollums before they exit the portal.
I am told you can just stand near the portal once you kill all the vanq will complete, don't quote me on that however.

Tip: always, always, check wiki before VQ'ing an area. There is always info on the number of foes and many times tips or tricks about vanquishing areas the most efficient way. Furthermore, it lists bugs with several vanquishes, such as Talus Chute:
That is probably what happened with you.
In short: check wiki, it will save you a lot of trouble.

There is a group which can patrol through the Icedome portal. If this happens, stand near the portal at the end of the vanquish and when they disappear, the vanquish should be completed. |

Some the the giants are on loooong patrol circuits. When I did it I spent ~15 minutes until I found them.

A quick heads up, even if you're not going for cartographer scrap the map, there are some foes in small areas there that u probably won't bother checking , and they are also most likely out of radar range. I spent 30 minutes back and forth when i saw a lil passage on the southwest part i didn't explore and they were there.

I've had this happen twice before which leads me to think maybe there's a rare bug. Most notable was in Ice Floe. The only patrol noted on wiki is the mursaat that merge into 1 group in the north, which I killed right at the start. It's a pretty straightforward map to VQ and not the biggest yet after around 30 mins I couldn't find the last mob and had to restart.
