Tihark Orchard (mission) Question
Pyromancer74
If you pay 5 Platinum to Royal Finance Minister Oluda, will that count as a festival activity?
wilebill
Yeah, but don't think you have to. You can go in direction opposite to that where the princes are and there is someone who wants to sell you a gift for another pretty price. Kill them for their impertinence and take the gift for free. Leastwise I think that's how it works; been a long time since I did that.

I don't know if paying the 5k counts but, as above, you can kill Jejumba and get the gift for free. Jejumba is not difficult to kill. She's around the back of the central fountain.
Spiritz
You can skip the mime - get the vase first then pass it to the minister then ( even tho no ! is above his head ) click on him again and pay the 5k and it will count.Just did it on my sin and without doing the infernal mime
Ghull Ka
Yeah man, don't pay NPCs your hard earned cash.
Find someone to murder instead.

Considering how long it took me to beat the mime, I wish I had known about that before.

I love this zmission. About 7 min per character with a cupcake, easy zcoins.
/dance, mime fight, vase (i use a spirit spam build when I do this and kill jejumba), reenact the fight (summon spirits, recast SoS), drunk contest, talk to 3 princes, kill skree.
The mime can be a pain until you remember the emotes. The ones that I sometimes get mixed up are:
/taunt (holds his hands up and moves head from side to side)
/pickme (holds his hands up and points to himself)
/roar (raises one fist into the air)
/cheer (raises both hands in the air)

Never knew that, I would pay 5k with a smile if I dont ever have to do the mime from hell again.

Thanks for the tip about the 5k - was about to go back and get the masters on this tonight and was not looking forward to the frustrating mime thing at all - I expect you've just saved me quite a bit of time :-)
gremlin
for an option to kill the mime I would gladly pay another 5k
akelarumi
Thanks for the question. I edited the wiki page a few months ago cause of some discussion in my guild and my guildleader who had to buy a new keyboard cause he smashed his old one when doing the mime. A lot of people don't know this. The 5k bribe is counting as the 6th festival event. giving you the possibility to skip on of the others (most common is the mime). Make sure you first give the vase before you do the bribe.
Pyromancer74
I mean, without getting the vase. If you just pay the 5k to that guy, will that also count as an activity?
Darcy
Yes, it does count as an activity.
Jeree95
You can also skip the payment by having 5k with u when u start the conversation, but dropping it near urself in the middle of it (before clicking the last "agree" to pay the 5k), then pick up ur 5k. This allows you to pay the 5k without losing any money, though it might be considered as cheating or bug abuse, so I'm just pointing this as an option, not encouraging anyone to actually do that. I myself found out about this from the Wiki after doing the mime thing, didn't find it really too hard/frustrating. Got masters at the second try of this mission (at the first one I died at the harpies as I didn't know of them before) without reading the guide at all :P
syronj
I don't pay the bribe, and instead kill the nearby guard to get the phoenix feather, giving it to Jejumba in order to get the vase. 5k is too much to have to pay. I usually skip the mime, though I did succeed once in getting all the emotes right.
Way2dead
tbh, just killing her is the best thing you can do, she doesn't nearly no damage at all
cataphract
Never pay 5k because you don't make any platinum that way.
Simply kill Jejumba because her damage output is almost nonexistent.
Mime is so retardedly easy to beat because he uses ten emotes.

Now that I know that there is a way to skip the mime I will do that instead. For those of use that can not type fast enough, that is nice to know.
cataphract
Average typing speed is somewhere between 50 and 60 words per minute. Basically a word a second. And since emotes consist of a single word one would have to have hooves or fins not to be able to type fast enough for Lumo the Mime.

I would like to direct your attention to the bold text - "several" being more than "one". Call me crazy but typing 10 easily recognizable emotes over spending 5k isn't really a choice at all.

3.Defeat Lumo the Mime in a mime duel. This contest can be repeated. This is done by copying each of Lumo the Mime's next 10 emotes within several seconds. If you use the wrong emote, try again; you only lose if you fail to type the correct emote before the time limit. Also try repeating the previous emote, if Lumo does not seem to give you credit. If you lose, Lumo will /taunt you and say "You move with the grace of a baboon! I warned you that you stood no chance! Be gone from my sight." Afterward, you must restart the duel. He only uses a small number of emotes: /beg — He falls to his knees. /boo (also /scare) — He raises both hands abruptly and thrusts his head and arms forward, towards the player. /bored — He shrugs his shoulders forward with arms at side. /breath and /catchbreath — He bows forward, breathing heavily. /cheer — He stretches both arms in the air. /dance — He does the male ranger "breakdance". /doubletake — He thrusts his head towards the player twice. /drum, /flute, /guitar, /violin — He plays the respective "air" instrument. In case of the flute he stands on one leg. /excited — He claps his hands. /flex — He does a classic Greek pose with one arm towards the ground and one behind his head. /goteam — He puts his hand towards you and bows and stands. /laugh — You can see his chest shaking. /pickme — He points towards himself with both arms. /point — He points towards the player with one arm. /ponder — He puts his hand towards his chin. /roar — He stretches one fist in the air. /shoo — He waves both hands in front of his chest, towards the player. /taunt — He waves both hands beside his face and shakes his head. /wave — He waves with his left arm. |

Mime is not too hard. 1st time I did it I got frustrated, but now that I know the emotes I think it's fun. A good use of making a minigame out of something GW already had developed (the emote system.)

But it's such easy zcoins if you have multiple characters, it really is worth the effort if you are trying to collect them. Not to mention the gold and rep point bonus. Once you do it a few times it gets pretty easy.
Silmar Alech
This list is too long, as far as my experience goes. He don't use /doubletake - he only does this after you beat him. He is also never /bored nor /excited, and he never /ponder(s). He also never does /goteam. And I never saw him /wave.
The correct list of emotes can be found in the wiki discussion page of Lumo the Mime.
Honestly, with the truly fitting descriptions from wiki it's not difficult to detect what he's doing. And practice writing. Take lessons in typewriting - one of the best trainings a computer user can ever do. Why waste hours of your precious life with typing 1 character in 2 seconds whenever you enter something into your computer, when you can type 3-4 per second and more error free without even looking on the keyboard after taking lessons?

To be fair, I think what's slowing them down is trying to recognize the emote. It does take some study and memorization if you don't farm it all the time, and I can understand people just wanting to get through the mission twice not wanting to bother to learn it.

Yes, it does seem that recognizing the emotes is one problem for some people. The emotes he does are the same as a male Ranger and they are consistent, so once you learn them, they don't change.
Another thing to keep in mind - which was a problem I had at first - is: don't panic. There is no great rush - the mime will wait a fair time for you to type in your emote, but a misspelled emote can screw it up.

He uses male ranger emote animations. Besides, the game has been out for more than 6 years and the emotes remained the same. On top of that, they're really easy to recognize because they're very, very similar with other classes' emotes. I mean, you're not going to type /roar when you see him down on his knees and palms of his hand as if he were praying, will you?
Zcoins are the whole point of this story. Zaishen quest gives you 2 silver coins and 500 gold as reward. That's 2.5k total reward. spending 5k to get 2.5k is ridiculous and I have no reasonable explanation why anyone would do it. That said, if anyone is interested in making 2.5k in 5 minutes and 5k fee, I'll gladly chat with you. On second thought, maybe I should offer this as a service. There's bound to be people that are bored or just want to chat with someone. |
And the people talking about paying the 5k are most likely just looking to get this done for the Protector and Guardian titles and not even worrying about the zcoins.

Yes, that Wiki list is somewhat flawed. I am not sure about /ponder and /goteam, but he regularly /wave(s) at my characters. Then again, all my chars are hot and sexy ladies in skimpy outfits. Ele wears something like this. And uses better English even though she ain' 'merican-born, yo. |
