Network maintenance on Thursday July 7 2011

On Thursday July 7 2011, we're going to conduct a network maintenance at 5 AM PDT (7 AM CDT / 8 AM EDT / 12 PM GMT). We expect the work to take up to 2 hours. Guild Wars, the Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 website and wikis could be affected by the maintenance, including possible disconnections and login errors from the game.

• Start time: Thursday July 7 2011, 5:00 am PDT (7 AM CDT / 8 AM EDT / 12 PM GMT)
• End time: Thursday July 7 2011, 7:00 am PDT (9 AM CDT / 10 AM EDT / 2 PM GMT)
• Impact Duration: Two hours, intermittent

Same day as WoC rollout, not a coincidence I feel.

Makes me optimistic if it's going to require full on network maintenance, or maybe they are just reconfiguring servers to handle the sudden influx of people starting WoC content.

Very, very unlikely. That would be content, and GW has a different content update model.

The most common reason to is work on your servers for hardware or OS (security) updates. Or install new servers...

or they degrading again

could be upgrading the server for all the new things its going to have to do for WoC (like fixing that one bridge in a quest and i remember some interview thing about how your actions would impact the landscape by like removing afflicted from the landscape and things like that)

On wiki it claims it will be released before July 9th, which is Saturday.
Tomorrow would be a great day to make the preliminary NPCs appear and such, to prevent having too much dump in one day.

Or they could troll us (intentionally or not) and dump it at 11:59pm PDT on Friday.

At least they picked the time of day (am) that has less traffic of people playing the game, if I am reading the message correctly.

I hope they give us the costumes as soon as possible, preferably after maintenance

Friday is the best day for WoC imo.

Though it seems likely that they are doing the maintenance to make sure that the servers are all up and running smoothly for WoC which should be coming in the next few days rumor has it on wiki..

It sounds like a pretty decent sized update, so, seems logical they'd want everything running at its best right?

Well, the game seems to be up, at least for the moment...I must have logged in during one of those "intermittent" phases...
