Which professions can I create?

Hi, I want to buy the trilogy. Will I be able to create the professions from nightfall or factions to play right from the start as my main profession?

I have played the free trial and I like it. Pvp interests me too alot. I played a necromancer/mesmer in my free trial. But I would like to play as a Dervish, so I was wondering about creating one right from the start.

Thanks alot.

You can play any profession you like, though if you want to play an Assassin or Ritualist you'll need to start in Factions and if you want to play a Dervish or Paragon you'll need to start in Nightfall.

To clarify: the campaign you make the character in determines what profession your character can be.

You can create Warriors, Rangers, Elementalists, Necromancers, Mesmers and Monks in ALL campaigns.

You can only create Assasins and Ritualists in Factions.

You can only create Paragons and Dervishes in Nightfall.

You can then take the created character to any campaign and play through it, expect for the earliest parts of the campaign.

The only thing you can't play through is the pre-searing area(the starter area in the prophecies campaign before the searing and you've made it to Old Ascalon) if you make an assassin, ritualist, paragon, dervish, or any of the classic professions which were started in a campaign other than prophecies.

Basically you can access everything and anything on a prophecies character, and everything except pre-ascalon on any other character.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I was hoping to create a dervish for the prophesy campaign, but sounds like I'll have to create one of the prophesy professions and play through it. That's fine actually.

Also, let's say I create a character from the prophesy campaign, can I take that character all the way through the nightfall and factions campaigns?

Thanks for the help.

Yes you can.

But you can also take a Dervish (for example) for Prophecies campaign. If you want your Derv, do it. You can do Prophecies with him, later.

Well yes you can, in fact when you reach one of the main capital cities you can travel to other campaigns and start there. You will skip the beginners content and start the campaign right away.

Too start with Dervish in Nightfall is a good idea, because you seem to like pvp and the derv in pvp right now is a very strong char and for pve you will have your heroes much faster.

To clarify, if you start a Dervish, you need to start and play in Nightfall until you get to Consulate Docks. There you can do small quests which will unlock travel to the other campaigns and EotN. Once unlocked you can travel between campaigns freely.
