!! By no means does this idea suggest reselling previous collector edition benefits !!
Right, with that outof the way i can formulate what i'dd like and why. And lets start with the why. I have been playing GW1 on and off since beta and i would concidder myself a hardcore casual fan, i have 'collected' and treasured all GW expansions and various bonus upgrades, but mainly for monetairy reasons i never bought a collectors edition. Looking back at this i'm sort of sad i didn't, but at the time I just couldn't afford it, or didn't feel i needed the a CE if i wasn't sure idd actually wanted to collect GW1. kinda like collecting post stamps (or any other thing), you don't decide to collect them from the start, you tend to grow into it by realising you like something and want to get more of w/e it is, and before you know it you have a 'collection' and people start saying you are a 'collector' of w/e it is you have a lot of.
Being older, and thus having more financial room to breath, and realising i actually do collect GW1; judging from the editions i got, the ingame store saying i bought just about everything and having bought some GW2 related things (artbook & books) and comming close to framing my GW2 t-shirt i got at GamesCom last year... There is just one thing i cannot get (anymore) for a decent price (yes i realize there are collectors editions on the market somewhere for rediculous prices) which is a 'collectors edition'.
Now i did some searching (on the forum) and came to understand some people wouldn't like collectors editions to be resold, and i fully get this: one time deals should be one time deals (hence the opening statement); But that doesn't void the option to sell a Post Collectors Edition (PCE), with stuff in it that is not in the other CE's ...
I would suggest having some minor restrictions put in place to make this a true 'collectors' item:
1. Must have all GW1 editions: Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, EotN (buying a 3pack is fine)
2. The account must be atleast 1y old.
3. The account must be linked to the NCSoft Master Account.
That should be more then enough to warrent that this PCE goes to players that actually 'collected' GW1 and have played it for a decent timeperiod. (aka. it can not be bought straight away)
So then it comes to 'what' we would buy when buying this PCE. Well upon searching the forum i ran into a post that listed all the items in original CE's, and i would suggest this PCE to hold similar things, but geared to an CE that is bought afterwards. I will list some things this PCE could hold (not that it should!):
- It could come in a nicely decorated box, big enough to hold all the original edition boxes (or have a 'fold it yourself' hardboard box inside), so that you can store your boxes nicely tugged together. Design would be geared to 'all editions'...
- It could come with a double sided poster/map. Displaying the known (or full) map of Tyria on one side (something along these lines: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:..._map_small.jpg ); and a decorated chronological timeline on the other side (something along these lines: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Timeline )
- Art of GuildWars History Book, An artbook dedicated to the Art of GW1 in a chronological timeline OR geared towards Art from all the various Editions from prophecies to EotN. If possible this artbook would not hold any art already in an earlier Art Book (or only very few). The book would cover concept art from all editions, possibly by area. And might be set as a sort of GW history book. Thus making it also something interesting to newer GW players that may not play through all campains before GW2 sees it's light.
- Best of GW1, by Jeremy; a 12 track CD with 3 memorable songs from each Edition. Maybe it could hold a GW2 bonus track... *this may be less interesting to those already having the other CD's, but it's still nice for those that don't. The box art could hold a link to where ever one can buy all the tracks from all editions.
- Now Dance ingame code; this code lets you upgrade your account to PCE status and unlock the following bonus to your character. Next to the already there /dance, characters with the PCE would get /dance1 through /dance9 to unlock all profession dances on their characters.
- I could come with an Everlasting Native Tonic. Working similar to the raindeer tonic, where it randomly turns you into a Native Tyrian, Canthan, Elonian. Tonic would also work in explorables.
- Or it could come with Native Costumes.
- Perhaps i could come with a Historian Mini.
- Perhaps it could hold old weapons; like rusty sword, axes, knives, scythe, hammer, and 'patched up' bow, staff, wand, and a cracted focus...
-----------------------------
I personally think a Post Collectors Edition like this would interest any fan, wether they already have a CE or not. As far as i can see there are NO items that have already been handed out in other CE's or atleast a very limited amount of re-occurance. And they would give GW players that do not have a collectors edition the chance to get one, even if it is not a CE of the past... I think it would make a lot of players happy to be able to get it
*** DISCLAIMER: I renounce all right to this idea for aslong as it concerns ArenaNet/NCSoft in relation to GuildWars (be it 1 or 2), seeing it consists of items that can only be made available by them. I merely put it here since this is where discussion takes place. If anyone wants to send in this idea as a suggestion on the wiki they are free to do so, given they give me credit for it by including a link to this thread. ***

This all sounds very nice! But financially I don't think Anet could ever benefit from another physical product for GW1.
Digital Codes for the dance and stuff would be possible.

I have a better idea. Why not make all the collector edition weps, emotes, pets, etc available in a package so everyone can join in the fun? Of course people who already have them would say no because they like their "special privilege" to remain exclusive, but eff'em. There's money to be made with this.
Of course I wouldn't mind seeing a complete art book for the game to come out at some point.

@Headless, mainly not because Anet has stated old CE's wont be released again, which i think is only fair if you give out a limited edition, to then keep it limited. Reselling these things would also break trust, in relation to this case, and breaking trust isn't a good thing to do. All the suggestions i read sofar on Collector Editions had this kind of proposal, and none of them have ever sparked any action from Anet along the lines of said suggestion, other then stating they wont release old CE content.
Thus, for those that want some form of CE for the GW1 editions, asking for a Post Collectors Edition like the idea in the OP is the best thing we can hope for

Breaking trust? 5 years out and like anyone is really going to care they lose that precious emote they feel they're so exclusively entitled to.
They have their box.

The only collector's edition worth buying was the original unless you play the extra professions a lot which I don't. You got six emotes that went well with in game items (i.e. Chaos Gloves). I hate NC Soft for not letting your Guild Wars email be changeable to at least "@ncsoft.com", that should be done anytime you link a Guild Wars account so there is no confusion if you forget the login after not playing for awhile, it makes no sense why they didn't do this in the first place since each master account is unique.

Well if they did make something like that I would be pretty sure to buy it xD
mathiastemplar may have a point in it being unlikely, aside from maybe a code for new dances, which I would also buy. But I still /sign this.
But man I would to have had the very first collectors edition... just for that dance emote...
I would buy that if it became an option too, but I can see the rage if it happened lol
But rage or not I would buy it xD

And i do not agree with mathiastemplar, i would be more then happy to buy an Art of GuildWars 'History' book, aswell as some of the other items in this PCE, and i personally think there are loads more people that would love to buy this PCE just for having a 'CE' of a game they played for a long time (but where they didn't get to buy a CE in the past, for w/e reason).
It might well be the only option to make a physical sale on something GW1 related, as the closer we get to GW2 the less people might be interested; though i do think a GW1 artbook would go well with a lot of fans; a PCE maybe not so much as most will be looking towards a GW2:CE ...
