HoM Pet Question
Aethelmar
Been breaking down what I need for my Hall of Monument and being still fairly new to the game I had a question about the pet portion. Now most guides say first thing is to tame a pet for the monument. Now from what I gather that means a Ranger needs to tame a pet. Now if your not a Ranger does this mean you make a ranger and tame a pet that can be used on your "Main"s HoM or are all your HoMs linked on the account?

anything/R (just make ranger your secondary class)
check under the attribute beast mastery.
skill = charm animal
find an animal, charm it, level it to 20, then dedicate it ^_^
hope it helps C:
p.s. you're better off just charmin one of the rare ones(imperial phoenix, moa, or widow [widow + moa are level 20 upon capture anyway]) and leveling it to 20 for 2 points rather than 1.
BUT, if you wanted to make another character, the HoM calculator is indeed account-wide, so you can get the achievements across all of your characters if you so desire.

if im a War/Mo when I get 20 should I just swap my 2nd profession to /R to get the pet ones or am I stick /Mo?

Change your secondary, you can always switch back. Your pet will stay attached to your character, so you can be W/R when you work on leveling the pet, and W/Mo for your general gameplay.

Any character or hero can get a pet by using the skill "charm animal". It's a ranger skill, so you'll have to switch your profession to Ranger to do so.
Secondary profession can be changed after a PvE character "ascends" by either seeing a profession changer NPC or by completing a few quests. After that, you can freely switch your secondary profession whenevr you're in an outpost.
The character's pet will only appear if you equip a certain skill (charm animal or comfort animal). Otherwise, the pet remains "in storage" and doesn't appear. The pet also remains in storage if you switch to another profession.
Advice: when you level a pet to lvl 20, first take it to Zaishen menagerie and unlock it there, so you can easily get a new one of the same level.

Thanks guys!

The Black Moa is already level 20 if you can get to the capture area in Factions. Just tame it and take it straight to HoM. Saves a lot of time. Look up Black Moa on wiki.

But the black moa is a special pet. I don't think you can use it to get the normal animal companion statue...

Also the Zaishen Menagerie found in the battle isles can be used to unlock pets and also give pets from other characters and use on other characters

no its one of the rare ones, but it does count towards any pet as well as black moa (I only had it capped and it shows up that way for me).
alternative, if you dont wish to spend the time leveling--you can have one of your heroes cap the pet--level it to 20--take it to the menagerie..change your 2ndary, have the pet guy there show you the pet--and it should be leveled up already---cap it (note, you have to have the pet on your character to put it in the HoM, on a hero doesnt work)

If you have a space on your account, just make a pvp ranger character. They get a level 20 wolf straight away. Take it to the zaishen menagerie and release it. Then any other character with a /r secondary can tame the level 20 wolf and take it to the HoM for dedication. A bit cheap, but effective.
