Read a bit but about this and i already salvage a lot of drops to get iron but still i find almost it one of the hardest common materials to get.
Be it feathers, dust or wood i can get it at least 3x faster than iron, at the rate i'm going i'll get black dyes faster than iron...
So i'm asking if there's any particular spot where the drops salvage mostly to iron and in large quantities. If possible somewhere where i can get inscribable stuff (not required but a few "measure for measure" would help the speed i guess).

Thanks in advance for any helpful insight in this matter.

The question should be more on the lines of where can I not get Iron.

Just about every martial weapon (Sword, Scythe, Axe or Daggers) as well as most shields, some Staves / Wands/offhands can be salvage into Iron. Just go somewhere where you get many swords and you should be fine. (Vaetirs and Raptors for example. You can even get a lot of salvage Dust from the Raptor farm).

i find vaettir farming pretty productive, 90% of weapons dropped salvage into iron, not only martial ones but even caster ones

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Category:Contains_iron theirs about 400 things that contain iron imo main way u get iron is to slavage the items listed and try rembering what gives u iron / dust and advoid geting wood lol since its no profit their
also hes right vaettir do drop alot of drops that can turn into iron when slavaged also just me i have put the measure mods on weps to slavage and i never go an increace in the amount unless it was on the wep when it dropd thats the exp i have had with that

Im jumping in with the " search function is your friend ".
Sorry but had to be said as there has been multiple posts to do with farming the materials needed for consets.
Also you really need to use hm for better iron drops - theres more of it salvaging weapons than in nm.
Vaetires can drop a lot of iron but its also a "drops over time" thing where it may take a while to get a few stacks as your relying on certain drops.
Anywhere with melee is best - rangers rarely drop weapons that salv into iron ( i mean not as common ) , casters can drop rods that salv into iron.
I get most of my materials now from vq areas for title - im doing 2 things at once which can pay off.

Take SoS-rit into UW.
Farm for ectos.
Salvage everything you get dropped.

You now have some ectos and a storage full of stacks of iron and dust.

What I do for Iron is, get a build that can farm Wind Riders. They drop Canes which gets you Iron every time. Its how I've always done it.

as mentioned previously, almost all martial weapons (think hammer, sword, axe) salvage into some form of metal, be it iron or steel for the most part. I know some turn into granite, too but mostly metal. Also, steel salvages into iron (4-5 per ingot), so either type of metal and and you have iron. A lot of times, a measure for measure on an inscriptable sword will get you 8-12 steel ingots - salvage those and you get 32-60 iron.

I'm finishing my survivor title now. And as I farm xp points in Fronis Irontoe's lair in HM I get loads of salvagable armor drops which is salvaged mostly to iron or tanned hide. Martial weapons drops there too in very large quantities and the run is pretty easy even on HM because u are given a set of brawling skills. Whole run takes about 15 mins and I have full inventory in most of times. Quest is given in Gunar's Hold by Kilroy Stonekin.

Thanks for the intel guys.

Not trying to be rude or ungrateful and i do know many people just post without looking for the information. I did search the forum and what most people tell is just "salvage (martial weapon/warr drops) and you should get enough iron" and not much about good places with mobs worth farming for them. (i do apologize if i skipped any topic on this regard but did not find anything useful on this matter).
The reason i asked for an area like this was because i already farmed 15 stacks of dust with the raptors and i barely got 2 of iron, which is what i want atm.

Gonna try vaettirs now and see what i can get with my luck, never thought of farming them since they're casters (same with wind riders).
Didn't go to fronis because i thought it wasn't worth the time, but uw might be a good area since i got a few scrolls.

Once again thanks for the information on good mobs for iron drops, and i really don't mean any disrespect to anyone on my ranting on the 2nd paragraph.

Have you tried Minister Cho's Estate farm yet? The run takes about 7mins and gives a good source of iron along with some pricy gold weapons if you are lucky. For me, each run after salvaging, 50-75 iron (more if the stuff came with highly salvagable, some items with that mod can give you around 18-25 irons per salvage). Second spot i can think of is farming raptors, keep those greater sage blades, and buy "highly salvagable" incriptions to insert them with. Hope this helps and good luck on your farming.

What I did back in the days was to farm the halcyon job. The luxon sins drop pendant that can be salvaged into a couple irons.
I don't know if the farm can still be done though.

If i remember halcyon was nerfed, some skill changed.
Vaettirs are good for this, made a stack in little time but it's a bit slow since i don't have much exp doing it (but rather easy to learn).
Probably will try the others when i find the drops on the vaettirs to lower, and cycle them as i learn.
Thanks for the helpful insight.

Weird, I salvage all of my drops apart from selected ones and in 1 week I ended up with 8 stacks of Iron and only 3 Stacks of Dust/Bones. I did end up with a lot of wood but I just feed that to ther merch.

Hydras and wind riders in the desert have always been great for iron drops, Failing that the enchanted skeletal dudes outside of Dunes of Despair always were a fav of mine and you can 55 them still I think (It's been a while since I tried :P )
