How to make money with DoA?
thedeadlyassassin
So, just thought I'd start off throwing this out there - I rushed through NF on my paragon. Everything I bought for him I used my storage money to buy. The amount of money I made with picking up drops and merching them, and money from quests, throughout all of NF (this is NOT getting titles or going for masters all the time, just getting the game done), I was able to make 41 plat and 773 gold. That being said, I did not find picking up everything as a sufficient way of making money, since, without help, and only wiping once (because I did a mission as too low of a level on noob island), I spent around 20 hours to get to Abaddon and defeat him.
The character I made was an imbagon, and I made him to do DoA, because I've been told that it is great money.
So, I have completed my first DoA without killing Mallyx. I got 1 green, 4 Stygian gems, 2 Tourment, 3 Titan, and 4 Margonites.
So, what item(s) do I aim for? Do I get 15 of each gem and sell Armbraces? Do I sell coffers?
Any help would be appreciative.
PS: Sorry if this is against the rules or has been asked before. I saw the "how to make money" thread but it didn't answer my question. Thank you.

Farm gems as fast as you can, with speedclear groups, and sell either Armbraces for ~22e each or gemsets (one of every gem type) for ~10-12k each.
I don't think people buy coffers, but if you like farming DoA and get loads of gems, you might want to spend some on coffers yourself, you might get an Armbrace or mini Mallyx for one gemset.

I wouldn't bother with it except when there's nothing else to do and a Mallyx group is forming.

If theres group forming, go for it.
It's alot funnier than usual DoA farm, and gives you gemset.

It's the truth.
I've started a new character recently (proph ele) and I'm planning on making her a gwamm too. But to make a bit more challenging I am not using storage, tomes or shortcuts to get heroes. Playing through Prophecies I had to craft several armor sets with the last one being the elementalist armor at Droknar's Forge. Had a gold 19/19 fire staff drop in Elona Reach, crafted a sword with +8 armor vs Dwarves at Yak's Bend and traded 5 Stone Summit Badges in Drok's for a 20/20 air offhand. That max armor was the biggest expense so far although I had saved some runes and insignias. Sup Vigor set me back 20k and the not so economically sensical decision to dye my armor white cost another 12k.
Came to Cantha with about 50k. Crafted a 20/20 air wand in Vasburg armory. I am currently at Kodonur Crossroads mission and have 70k in my inventory. All seven so far available heroes are equipped with collector items, crafter items and drops. Not using the /bonus feature either.
You don't need to farm in GW to beat the game or be pr0.

You don't need to farm in GW to beat the game or be pr0. That's correct you don't need to farm to be pro or beat the game. No one ever said you did. But what happens when you've been there done that? You either uninstall or you find ways to "improve" your character(s). Which quite frankly is what "role playing" games are about. Player development. Should you choose to farm, power trade, speed clear, go for gwamm, unlock more skills among a ton of other things you're gonna need some cash flow. You pretend every player plays GW from A to B and then quits. You play through the game once to beat it and you'll make enough to be pro and get by with just the basic limited amount of items/weapons that is correct. Some of us continue to still play long after that though.

Alay
It's quite true. Outside of farming around 30 ectos which went to an EL Gelatinous tonic I had to have, I haven't really farmed anything and instead have just been playing. You can make plenty by just playing the encounters and dungeons and missions and stuff.

On Topic: If you really want to make much money with DoA. Quite playing your imbagon, make a mesmer and join a DoAsc guild. In HM you get 50k+ worth of Gems, and DoAsc guilds make this money in 30min-1h.

Actually, it's more like 60-80k, depending on luck, drops etc... But yeh, you got the point^^

Ye I am taking in consideration worst case scenario where you pop loads of pcons or have too use too much ress-scrolls even. Maybe even the price of gemsets being about 10k/each now due to Glaiveway :'(
loshon
I'm pretty sure the drop in gemset prices isn't due to glaiveway...

They were 18k before the Dwg update. Maybe there is a rise in DoAsc also.
