Try it for yourself. It won't work. Oldschool (for sake of clarity uninscribed) shields cannot have a shield handle attached to them. Oldschool shields are the mods they have the innate "mods" and that's the final say on them, there is no further modification available.

You are incorrect, that is not the "inscript" slot, rather that is an "Old School" or "Canthan" shield, which only drops with mods that are unchangeable.

Thus, as End said, that is a single mod, and high requirement shield, that can not be modded at all.
