GWG Hosts Contest for Costume Codes!

If I film the run myself, do I need a babysitter? Also, Rez scrolls? Any banned gimmicks? Specifically a spell protected tank and an e/mo
Sierraa
I'll babysit you anytime since you never talk to me in game anymore. :p Also yes, you need a guru staff member in your party. I don't believe we really allow "tanks" but I think E/Mo is okay as a hero. (Another staff member/Jenn/Kvinna will need to comment on this.)
Ungle
Sierra I wasn't on your friends list when I started to see you online again, when I'm not mutual I tend to remove
my apology. I'll message you as soon as I am back online

The argument made dealt with the restrictions and efficiency of 2 mutually exclusive team combinations (full hero vs. full human). How differential skill between players utilizing 1 type of combination has anything to do with what Jeydra said is ridiculous at best. Though I am sure we both know how nonsensical your analogy is.

Also, lol, we're already not allowed to use consets, now you're gonna say what skills we can and can't use? If we want to take a SF tank with us to tank and spank stuff, by god we should be allowed. The rules only dictate what items we can or can't use, but if you're gonna say what skills we're allowed to take, this competition will be the sadest I've ever seen. I'm sure Jeydra will disagree with me, but of course, he knows that we'll probably have an advantage when we take a full human party with a SF tank, but then again, we would be the only worthy competition I guess because he can practically wipe the floor with most people when it comes to micro'ing heroes.
FoxBat
If you're gonna add some skill restrictions don't leave it grey IMO. It has to be absolutely clear. Even if you ban SF, some variant on tank-and-spank with human teams is still going to yield the best times. If you punish people that run around under high protection balling stuff, then the next proximate thing people will do will be to run just slightly ahead with less protection and still ball stuff. You can't write enough rules to cover these scenarios, and using your personal judgement on the spot isn't fair to people planning and strategizing this ahead of time.

"we're already not allowed to use consets"? That rule affects all parties, yet somehow you want to play the victim.
If hero's have a class restriction on them (i.e. no more than 3 mesmers in any given combination) I don't see why human teams should not be held to the same restriction. Meh, in the end this won't change anything; comparing times between human and hero teams doesn't make sense.
Oh and can we just give any of our IGN's in the entry? I'm still unsure on which of my toons I want to use.

How about this. We stop bitching about stuff that is not going to change and just enjoy the FREE! contest that we are putting on for you guys. Any more pointless bitching and and I start deleting posts.
Either enjoy the contest for what it is, or don't compete. Simple as that.

Lol, imagine if it were ANet saying something to the tune of "enjoy the free servers" and "if you don't like our game then don't play it".
Anyway, I did a few runs of Tahnnakai Temple. There certainly is less room for speedclear tactics here than in Raisu, but definite opportunities still exist. There's a bit of waiting time between rooms and the spirits can run really slowly, which is annoying, but that's all.
Mission actually seems quite balanced for the various primary professions. Certainly some mobs can be easily balled up and exploded by a melee character, but others can't. We'll see how it turns out.

Another reason you might want to restart is if togo, mhenlo, and gate NPCs get stuck due to pathing issues (spirits can be obnoxious). I like tahnaki temple as a choice for contest, there's a few risk/reward parts in the mission for rushing through thanks to togo/mhenlo in the party. You can prioritize prizes to one human team and one hero team if there are enough entries to make such necessary.

Sorry, that was my failed clarification
.
@ Jeydra, you're free to use those tactics you mentioned, if you want. I'm much less concerned since you can't exactly just skip parts of the mission. I wouldn't read too much more into that guideline than you already have. Same with the perma-sin comment - that doesn't apply too much here since running a bar that makes you invincible-ish won't help too much. It's not like you can run straight through the mission. Maybe an extraneous example, so I wouldn't look into it much more than that.
@ Foxbat, people are free to do tank-n-spank if they want.

But I think you should be allowed to attempt the mission as many times as you want.

Every
single
time
you
try.
Would you be willing to act as observer of 500 happy times in Tahnnakai Temple?
If not, most certainly others wouldn't act much different.
Missing HB
The mission ( or the game i don't know) is really lagging a lot... it's not pretty pleasant to have to do top times with those , especially if you consider you instant wipe with 7/8 by teleporting/rubberbanding in mobs...
Windbow
Just a last question...Is SF completely forbidden, or is it fine when just used as tank, and not to run past everything.

I bet the winning time will be under 11 minutes, although exactly how fast a full team of humans can make it I don't know.
@soli - that's why I said anti-cheating measures should be enforced in other ways, e.g. forcing constant screenshots or videos etc.

We aren't accepting any more entries, but a lot of people who have entered haven't done their runs yet. Make sure you are signing in and trying to find runners/mods! You have until Friday, Sept. 23!
Jeydra
After having done this mission like ... over 30 times ... I've come to hate it tremendously. It's fast, intense, fun in its own way, but man, random factors can easily account for 30s to 1 minute of time. The specific aggro controls that I prepared are inherently random; if monsters aggro in a specific way they die considerably faster, but if they don't you can easily lose 20-30s. I've had several runs where one specific aggro control resulted in a really fast clear, yet also had that same aggro control result in a wipe. Naku is very guilty of getting stuck too. Sometimes he doesn't get stuck at all, but other times he just stops running at random, losing a few more precious seconds.
That said, from my endless runs through this mission I've learned a lot about Guild Wars. Some of this knowledge can undoubtedly be exploited elsewhere. Thanks for hosting!

Feel free to reveal my time and any screenshots / videos you took
I'd be interested in the approaches everyone else took too, especially if they're unorthodox.
