I need a hammer

What is the easiest max damage hammer to get?

I've always played an axe warrior and I'd like to try a different build. Should I craft a hammer or should I be looking at farming an area?

I am finding gold and good purple ones in Grenth's Footprint and Sorrow's Furnace. I just started doing the missions in that area late Sunday. Only played about 4 to 5 hours in that area and must have found six so far.

List of crafted hammers

If you have mats and money on hand, pick one of these.

List of collector hammers

Otherwise, pick one of these, and start farming items for the collector.

PM me if you like, I can sell you a nice max damage gold hammer (properly modded) very cheap.

Weapon crafters are generally not worth using unless you're crafting a 40/40 set (which we aren't in this case). Buying a unique hammer would almost definitely be cheaper. See here, then pick one that's 15^50, +30 health, and vampiric (which is just this and this). You'll probably find it easier to get the former (just buy an amulet of the mists and trade for it yourself if you can). Picking up another with a zealous upgrade will be a good investment if you plan to use hammers in the long run.

This would be the better choice if you really want to be conservative with your money. Same mods apply as before. Pick one with 15^50. Then you'll need to buy a vamp mod and a +30 health mod (or a +5 armor, which is cheaper and most likely better (though you will likely spend longer trying to find one)).

Going to LA and asking a gold unid seller if he has a q9 hammer is probably the easiest way, if you would like an inscribable one. Otherwise, crafters as has been stated

(most unid sellers want to sell in sets of 7 for 5k the lot, so though it is often not necessary, it may be polite to buy 6 other items from them too.)
