Chestrunning question
MaxBorken
Hi folks.
It's a simple one really.....
I tried chestrunning and discovered that it is DULL. I mean as dull as watching paint dry. To make it more interesting I wondered about taking offensive heroes instead of the /paragon ones and killing the groups of baddies on the chestrun route.
Sure, it dramatically slows the run down, but is the trade-off worth it considering the reduced drop rate?
A team of discorders, a panic mes and monks would make the killing swift, but it'd turn a 4 minute run for example into a 20 minute run...
I'd be grateful for your thoughts please

Do you really have to ask?

if you want to run 5 chests in 20 mins instead of 4, sure do it. But this is just ridiculous for most chestrunners. 10.000 chests is a lot, 1 chest/minute is slow let alone 1 per 5 mins ><
Also killing of groups with discordway doesn't make the run much more fun imho?

Yeh indeed... If you don't like chest running, don't do it. I for one hate UWSC, and not doing it ensures that I don't encountered with it.

Unless you're hunting for anything particular, run the chests outside boreal.
Step 1: Get a lot of series/movies/anime
Step 2: Put GW in window mode
Step 3: Just watch the movie and take some glances at GW window to check for chests.
Its impossible to die and you'll be doing a lot of chest per day without noticing.
The runs will be like 10-20secs slower since you'll probably taking more attention to whatever you're watching.
This is the fastest you'll get without dying of boredom. But i do encourage you to get A LOT of thing to watch. It will take a while before you're done.

Just do normal end-game stuff. Seriously.
Take frostmaw for example - levels 2 to 5 can take between 5-30 mins each, and you'll be guarenteed at least one chest, usually 2 and even up to 4 (or 5?) on the third floor. That's basically what you're asking for.

just take keys/picks with you wherever, but also I'd reccomend running, rather than fighting for chests, it'll be a lot faster.
I run from aspenwood (luxon) around Mt qinkai. You can find 2-5 chests in about 4 minutes, much faster than fighting.

People still chest run?

yes, and its quite boring.
I usually just grab a bunch of 'picks before I do a dungeon (I still have quite a few characters working on these)...since there is usually at least 3 per level.
Also when vanquishing bring them along since most areas have a few chests as well.
trying to do other stuff while maxing treasure is how I have been working it. I cant stand to farm either--so multi-tasking is the way to get things done. (yeah I have quite a ways to go to max treasure)

So to answer your question, if you fight along the way, you really are no longer chestrunning. You are fighting and opening chests you encounter. It's obviously going to go slower than just chest running. Which, although perhaps dull, is why people do it.

Also, map your select nearest item keybind to your B key (or any key your left hand can hit easily) too. Figure out how close you have to run to select the farthest east chest spawn and then you can do the whole run with out having to look for chests until you get to where the avalanche is (if you go that far).
I brought 3 heroes with fallback and charge and one with hex removal and a fall back and YMLAD on myself (for ice prison) all set to do not attack. They mostly chained the runs, so you just have to steer.
Don't forget the door trick works out of boreal too. (Exit boreal, reenter then exit...now when you finish type /resign and when you zone back in hit X to do a 180 and R to run out again.)
I think I was doing about 25/30min or 50/hour. I think I did about 7k of my TH title this way. Did another 1100 or so to max lucky/unlucky on top of that. All NM. In HM you get monster spawns in the early chest run paths.

When I chest run, I watch movies or Netflix on my PS3 while doing so. It makes the process far more interesting.
Tried and Triumphed
Windows 7 snap feature screams chest run + Netflix. Or GW activity X + Netflix. Or anything + Netflix.

Ah right, thanks folks.
I'm not particularly bothered about maxing the treasure hunter title, but was wondering about getting that once-in-a-lifetime q8 echovald with -2/ench and +30 inherrent mods, or a gothic defender etc etc.
Although the title would be nice, but I'd end up self- harming after a few hundred chests. (already got 3000 through years of playing)
