So I am a new gw player just joined the other day...came from wow. Well when I downloaded it and installed I got no desktop icon instead I havta go to search gw everytime and it will pull up the setup. I click the setup and it asks me if I want to run guild wars from its current location...uninstall etc. Is that normal? How can I complete the setup? Eerrrr
Thanks,

There's nothing on the start menu ?

Nope. Nothing there. I am forced to run setup every single time. Quite annoying.

Next time you find GW, right click on gw.exe (the ".exe" part may be hidden) and select "Send To" and then "Desktop (Create shortcut)" and viola!, a desktop icon.
If you have Vista or 7, there will also be an icon in "Games" from the start menu.

If you right click on the setup, do you have " Run as Administrator" there ?

Unfortunately nothing worked. I suppose I will just have to search for it every time

Are you searching for "GWsetup" or "gw.exe"? Once it's installed, you'd want to run gw.exe - and since you say it runs fine after you select "run from current location", it seems to be installed.

I cannot find gw.exe I search for gw and setup pulls up. I right click I click open containing folder. It opens up my downloaded folder. Its nowhere in there. I go back. I search for gw.exe specifically. Nothing. I have no clue lol

Check to see if you have GW in C:\Program Files\Guild Wars or C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars
Also, ensure that when you search for "gw.exe" that you search the whole C: drive. Often, if you don't specify, Search only looks in the folder it started up in.
