Kanaxai and Kaijun Don

Kaijun Don is the celestial monk boss in the Nahpui Quarter mission. Her spirit serves as the embodiment of corruption. She is one of the spirits that peoples aspiring to become Weh no Su (Closer to the Stars) must defeat.

The reason for Kaijun Don's...I'll say "penalty", is that she was a monk who became corrupt and made a deal with a demon.
" Over the years, her quest for vengeance became an obsession that blackened her soul, until at last she made a pact with a demon who promised powerful magics in return for completing the horrific ritual that would make him flesh. Kaijun did not hesitate, and the killings she performed that day left her forever corrupted."

Read this again:

Kanaxai is a powerful demon of unknown origins. Is it possible that Kaijun Don is the one who gave him flesh, and that he then made his lair beneath the sea (and was then trapped there when the waters turned to jade)?
It can be argued that Kaijun Don was not around that long ago, but the first Canthan emperor to become Ascended did so over 800 years before Shiro's death and the Jade Wind. Kaijun Don could just as likely have been a spirit part of the first Weh no Su, meaning that she could have given Kanaxai flesh a very long time ago and that he could make his lair beneath the sea way before it turned to jade.

Indeed there are plenty of demons in Factions (and GW in general), but very few in Factions actually have flesh. Kanaxai having flesh and being one of the more powerful demons in the campaign is why I thought the connection might be there. Also he is very well known for corrupting minds (Outcasts).

Very few have flesh? What demons are you talking about because all of them that we see/hear of do.

Though on the topic of flesh, I wonder if the ritual cast is similar to the one Shiro used in order to become human again, as he was a ghost who gained flesh.

In Nightfall, yes...but In Factions very few demons have flesh other than the Oni, which are created and controlled by Kanaxai.
Also note, Oni are the only demons in Faction, of course, there are plenty of other creatures some players may consider to be demons, but game mechanics such as "of Demonslaying" mods prove otherwise.

So, in other words, all of the demons we fight in Factions have flesh. Conversely, though, all of the demons we fight in Factions are connected to Kanaxai, and there's a certain selection bias in that enemies have to have something to attack by conventional means in order to be fought.

He's not unique, however - the demon Mang had to have a physical form in order to be caught in a lake by Teinai, for instance. Now, we do know who summoned Mang and it wasn't Kaijun Don - however, we also know that Kanaxai certainly isn't unique in having flesh.

On the whole, I'd have to agree with the consensus: It's possible. I might even say it's more likely than Konig thinks, purely through the metathinking that a demon we know by name is more likely to turn out to be connected to other lore than an unknown. However, there's nothing concrete to connect the two. Now, if there was some further description of the demon that linked it to Kanaxai that would make the argument stronger, but at the moment, it's just a hypothesis with no solid evidence. (And one that's unlikely to be proven with Kanaxai dead and gone, although it might be disproven by the reveal that it was some other demon.)

I'd also point out that the ascension of Chang Hai doesn't necessarily mean that Kaijun Don was around at the time - the test may have been different back then, or the kirin may have represented something different through another spirit (kirins wouldn't have come to embody corruption until after they themselves were corrupted by the Jade Wind).
