Buying Cdkey online.

Hi I was looking into buying factions and can't find it anywhere local. I checked Anet's store, $30!! I can't afford that right now and would really like to play a rit. I searched with google and found many sites that sell a cdkey only that can be emailed to me for about $13. It worried me a bit since a lot of the sites also sold gold, power leveling etc. Are these sites safe? Are they legal? Is there a specific site that has near instant delivery that anyone could recommend?

very possible those are scams in one way or another so really watch out.

if u buy it off some random site chances are it wont be and theres no way of telling till you've payed for it.
also unless anyone who knows they key can claim they own the account and get it back, so unless your getting an unopened box they can just wait a week and claim it back, apparantly this is quite common
best just to pay for it on the ncsoft site and know that youre gonna get the game even if it seems a bit expensive

I would never buy a CD key off a website that also sells gold, it's almost guaranteed they will save your creditcard info for shady business. Maybe even sell it on the black market as active CC-cards are still being sold actively.

There's also a big possibility they would sell you a stolen account without you knowing it. Then you play the game for months until suddenly the original owner reclaims it from Anet with all items and characters you have worked on.

At least in my bank I can create "virtual" VISA-cards with a fixed amount of money, and if someone gets hold of one they can't get more money than the limit you put to it. IMO the only safe way to use a creditcard online.

This... i know there is at least one website that sells legit cdkeys (i know an old guildie bought "bonus mission pack" there as he wasnt been able to use the online shop), so it is possible. Problem: i dont know name or url of that website anymore.

However i dont think the $30 you mentioned is correct. As an euro player i see euro prices and for Factions i see $14.95 (still a lot for an old game), but that is a lot less than $30... i think the $30 is from the Trilogy as that one shows up for me as 24.95 euro (i.m.o. still too much).

EDIT: i found the webshop that sells valid keys, but the prices are almost the same as in the online shop (20$ for factions, $30 for Trilogy... but euro prices are below online shop?? 10 euro for Factions):

Lol great answer. Do not buy the cdkey buy a legit copy off steam when they have a discount deal or something, and 30!? at local stores here the whole trilogy is 30$. You should be able to find a copy for around 20 dollars I'd imagine.

I think you mean legit, not legal. I'd be surprised if this isn't against the rules.

Ok sorry for that, but my native language is Dutch not English (i know my English isnt perfect).

Check ebay, if you haven't done so. Only buy new copies, and if it isn't as advertised ebay will refund you.

I bought mine at OffGamers ages ago. They're selling the trilogy for $20 with the Mox Golem bonus, same version I bought ages ago.

I can verify the site is legit. I don't know if they are still doing this, but when I bought mine, it also included the Eye of the North expansion on the same purchase.

Instructions: Download the game. Buy from Off Gamers. Copy CD key directly from purchase link after paying and paste into game.

You now have the entire trilogy on your GW account.

in america, the boxed trilogy has gone on sale for 15 bucks... you can find deals at best buy etc for $20 all the time. don't trust buying keys from shady places. check slickdeals or fatwallet or even amazon 1st.

Personally, I would never buy from a site that also sells ingame gold and other shady items, even if i had a personal guarantee from people that i trusted that the cd-keys they sell are legit.

I hate gold sellers and the bots that the send into games to farm that gold. (Not to mention the ones that gather gold from hacks/phish attacks). I don't want to give these businesses 1 cent of my money.

I'm closing this thread - question has been answered - Buy from reputable sites / systems and don't buy used CD-keys.
