If you go to the online store and look up Mercenary Hero Slot it says "Purchasing a Mercenary Hero slot allows you to "hire" any character (level 20 or above) on your account as a hero!"

Is that "or above" a mistake or is Arenanet planning on raising the cap?

I don't think they'd raise the cap, it'd probably be said because of the XP and how it keeps gaining even when you're lvl 20, purely for the skill points.

SOB, It does. I agree with Luna though, its too late to raise the cap and if they did, it would be devastating to the game's balance and ecosystem.

If Guild Wars wanted to raise the cap, they could. Since a toon's exp continues to be added up even after reaching 20, users would level up the second the change goes live and they log in. Toons wouldn't necessarily need to get additional skill points after 20. But will Guild Wars raise the cap this far into the game? I doubt it. The level 20 cap is one of those things that seperates Guild Wars from other online games at this point.

I'd say it's an editing error. Maybe at some point they were going to allow a lower level, so it said something like "level 10 or above" but when they settled on level 20 they neglected to remove "or above".

I don't believe that Anet would think of letting lvl 10 characters be mercs. I haven't bothered to buy merc slots as I'm happy with what I run, but for those who do have them, do your other characters get skill points if/when they level up as a merc? And do they still show when you go onto that particular character?

Mercs are basically just heroes you can dress up how you like.

They are essentially heroes with the same look as your character you have registered. So basically just the looks and the name, no armor weapons, titles etc that you would associate with the actual character. If you wanted to change the look of a hero then you have to register it again.

I don't believe it they would raise the cap, it makes no sense with the current balance of enemies etc. Half of the game mechanics people want just as higher levels were actually reasons for them making gw2 simply because it wouldnt fit in with the current meta.
