Hi all,
After a long time, I'm back....played wow for 3 years, but it ain't wow anymore, like 3 years ago.
So after 3 years, playing gw again i saw that a lot has changed, and i really do not know what is changed exactly.
How is the nerfing stage in gw atm? Are the old builds still possible to use, like A/E UW solo farm @ chaos plans?
The W/Rt raptor solo farm in EotN?
etc....
I really hope that GW is still as fun, like back then.
Thanks for reading and maybe even for the helpful comments
Back after a long time

Generally, things have changed significantly, so you'll want to check out the new meta builds. Try http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki . I'm not a farmer, so I don't know the details, but I know that Shadow form was reworked quite a bit.
As for fun... GW is GW. Fewer and fewer players play, but what do you expect from a game so old. Fortunately, with 8 heroes, stuff is generally a lot more doable these days.

If you are looking to farm chaos plains with an assassin:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:A/D_Plains_Farmer
I've tried it and it works. It is probably a lot more fragile than the shadow form you are used to.

TNX for the replies so far, i was used to use the (oldschool) A/E build @ chaos plains, but i guess that doesn't work any more

You will just have to dig on the farming builds and find out what works and what does not. You will see a lot of Rit/Mo and Ranger/Rits running a spirit spamming build for light to medium farming.
I played WoW this last summer for old times sake and nostalgia. The higher I got the less it was like the WoW of old. Glad that GW was still up and running. The biggest changes since you left are 7 heroes in your party; makes a huge difference. And Embark Beach is worth checking out.
As you know probably, GW 2 will be out "soon" like early next year probably. Unlike WoW, they are not destroying the old game to put out the new game. GW will still be here, whereas Vanilla WoW is just a distant memory.
You can get goodies in GW 2 from playing GW. No game changers, but veteran gear, veteran titles. Check out the Hall of Monuments in Eye of the North. Farming is not all there is to do. If you get 30/50 points in Hall of Monuments you will have all the goodies available to all your GW 2 characters.
http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome is the HOM calculator. The HOM itself is found in Eye of the North, which is in the Eye of the North expansion.
About nerfing. Some farm builds did get nerfed somewhat. But in general the new phrase is "power creep." With revisions to the Druid, 7 heroes in your party, a sturdier ranger pet since you were here I think; it is an improving GW. And now there are rumors of further good things to come including maybe even a Ranger rework somewhat like the changes to the Druid.
Oh, we forgot the War in Kryta and Winds of Change. Good quests there worth doing too. WoW has lots of competition these days, but GW still fits the gaming needs of many. I mean seriously, I have tried to find a better game but GW still has the most of what I want to spend my gaming time on.
Welcome back.

I know what you mean - Cata killed WoW for a lot of people, including me. GW has changed a lot since you've been gone, Dervishes are completely revamped and work differently with the introduction of "flash enchantments" among other things.
Assassins have had multiple shadowform nerfs/buffs through the years I believe... never kept up on that stupid godmode skill. Regardless, it's still a godmode skill.
Umm basically just play the game and see what's new, ANet added some new content to the game like war in kryta and more is on the way.
Most builds you remember are probably replaced/nerfed/different in some way. Check pvx.

Sliver form was ...changed so unless they are all ranged on you, you cant really sliver one guy down.
made a couple of farms on pvx(willing to teach with new sin)

The Short Version:
New Endgame PvE content (War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, Winds of Change)
PvP is dead except for CM in Factions which are now worth doing (can play either side for Imperial Faction, which can be traded for any kind of faction)
Hall of Monuments calculator fulfilling
7 heroes and massive PvE powercreep. My retired parents have Legendary Guardian and Legendary Vanquisher.
SF is only big in UWSCs and 600/Smite is long gone.
Only professions that haven't been buffed to insanity are Elementalist, Ranger, and paragon...and they are next in that order (if they get around to it)
Survivor title is now based on exp since last died.
