I'd just salvage the mods and merch it.
Also, NEVER mod items only to sell them for more gold, it doesn't work like that here.

Greater Sage is VERY common drop, and impossible to sell I find

Mods are worth a few bob so grab those of, no one will ever pay you what sword + mods are worth anyway.
