PvE: Retro FoW HM on 8 October, evening (CET)
Endrosz
In old times, back when the Lich Lord was threatening all of Tyria, heroes would enter the realm of Balthazar, God of Strength, to cleanse it of all evil. They diminished the Shadow Army, ground the Skeleton Brigade to a fine dust, chilled the flaming party mood in the Burning Forest, and brought the Lordship of Khobay to a quick end.
As the years passed, however, things changed. New professions would bring previously unfathomable power; machine-minded underlings labeled as 'heroes' would accomplish tasks unmanageable by human minds; amphetamine-fueled drugs created in illegal drug labs boosted everyone; genetically enhanced godlike skills trumped the old ones. All this, and more, ruined the sense of accomplishment that completing the Fissure of Woe once gave. However, a new mode was introduced for those who don't shy away from challenges: Hard Mode.
I'm calling upon now those venerable veterans, ferocious fighters, courageous crusaders, flawless flagbearers, for a mission of Retro FoW. Here are the rules:
Only Prophecies professions (characters from another campaign are okay). Only Core and Prophecies skills. No heroes. No consumables: No boosters (conset parts, sweets, etc). No summoning items. No DP removers (quests will erase DP). No resurrection scrolls.
You can find some suggestions for builds here. Please keep in mind that these are just suggestions! We'll make our final team decisions based on what profs are available, what tactics we want to play, etc.
The date is: 8 October, 18:00 GMT+1 (Central European Time). Should not last more than 4 hours total, preparations included. The event is aimed at EU players, but it's certainly not a requirement. If you can make it, you're welcome. You should ask for a guest pass from Vilag Jaro, we will form our party in my guild's GH. We will probably use the Guru Mumble server - also not a requirement, just a piece of convenience.
The current roster is below. I'm accepting people in two categories, state which one describes you best: 'probably', and 'maybe'. If we'll have more than 8 players available that evening, those on the 'probably' list will have priority over those who are on the 'maybe' list. You should list the profession you want to play, and the profs you can play if need be. We'll try to respect those wishes when the party forms.
Probably (9 total)
Endrosz (Vilag Jaro) - mesmer
Lucas (Soraya Cain) - mesmer, ranger, necro, monk

I'm not sure, but I think I'm able to come with you guys on my war/ranger. I know the fissure like the back of my hand, and I would gladly play tank, or if you prefer that, as ranger.
Hope to see you guys soon =]

Hey, welcome to the team! I put you on the probably list.
Please give us an IGN, just in case.

Can't make it but I love the idea and I just wanted to give you some feedback on the restrictions. I used to do FoW all the time in 2005 which is why I had made a Necro and Ele in prophecies. I remember the builds run in FOW for Prophecies' days were more or less:
Mo: WoH hybrid (WoH+d-kiss+Prot Spirit+Aegis+Mend ailment+Holy Veil) , UA wasn't useful then (look at PvP one)
Mo: Divine Boon Protters (Mantra of Recall/Offering of Blood /Energy Drain+ Leech Signet/Power Drain, RoF+Mend condition/mend ailment+Guardian+Prot Spirit+Shielding Hands, Inspired Hex if Mesmer secondary) , PnH used to be +1 pip energy regen
W:Axe warriors (Eviscerate, Cyclone axe for adrenaline, executioner's strike) , nobody ran hammers then because crude swing was easily interruptible so it took forever to build adrenaline (no Flail)
--> Tiger's fury IAS sometimes
--> most people tanked with Defy Pain + Dolyak Signet though ... I used watch yourself with 0 tac instead of tanking IIRC, back then it was a flat +20 armor
N:MMs (30 Bone Fiends+Dark Bond hilarity, Verata's Sacrifice, blood of the master was different IIRC) , Aura of the Lich wasn't the way it is now
N: SS with enfeebling blood/Shadow of Fear + Desecrate Enchantments
N: boring Blood is Power (BiP) "battery" for monks with Heal Party and no energy management , well of blood,
Shadow Strike /vamp gaze/insidious for less danger (this was before Sorrow's Furnace made SS popular)
R: Barrage , barrage pet, thumpers ... but mostly barrage
E: Echo nukers (Meteor Shower + Echo + Arcane Echo or Glyph of renewal + Arcane Echo + Meteor Shower)
E: dual attunement Rodgort's Invocation with fireball and filler skills like Deep Freeze/ Meteor / Gale /Blinding Flash (used to be 15en)
E: dual attunement chain lightning + Lightning orb
E: Ether Prodigy + Lightning Orb + Chain Lightning + Aegis+Prot Spirit or Heal Party+Mend Ailment
Nobody ran Mesmers back then...because Keystone did nothing but recharge signets every 20s, Ineptitude was 20-30 cooldown +15 energy and 1 target; Clumsiness was 1 target; Arcane Conundrum didn't return energy and was single target, Panic reduced energy regen by 2 and did lame damage on signet use.
--> E-Surge hasn't changed much but there was no fast cast recharge reduction ; Wastrel's Worry was single target
P.S. IMO your Earthshaker builds ought to have crude swing ; Aura of Faith is stronger than Divine Boon protter in terms of today; 100B used to be melee version of dual shot but without the -25% damage (people used to use with Conjures)

I'd love to take part!
I'll most likely be a warrior, but I can play monk as well. =D
IGN: Stefans The Warrior
EDIT: Hopefully there's enough room. I am 90% sure I'll be able to make it. (That 10% is that random chance I may not be available)

Okay, Lonki and Stefan accepted.
@LifeInfusion Thanks for the tips! I neved said these were the best builds - everyone will run something that he or she really likes and the party is okay with it.
@Well, it's possible that all 9 players on the 'probably' list will show up, in that case we'll talk it out. This a laidback, fun event, not some lvl 85 raid for that Thing You Really Need, so I'm not expecting any heated arguments.

Which district will we be playing in? I am American but I can obviously switch. Just curious.
Also, I haven't done FoW in awhile... As I recall there are not many fleshy creatures, correct? In that case I won't bring poison or bleed skills.
