I read that it's best to use a holy scythe. Is this true? When I'm farming SS/LB points should I equip all heroes holding a melee weapon?

DPS/Attack speed is better with melee weapons than ranged weapons. The wiki page for Junundu gives stats on various weapons, including scythes. In part, it notes....
Scythes do 35 damage per hit and can hit one adjacent secondary target. If your weapon's damage has a specific type, the Junundu's weapon is the same. For example, wielding a weapon that deals holy damage causes your Junundu to deal double damage against undead on normal attacks.

Okay, so scythes with holy damage. I guess vampiric axes and regular scythes will have to do for now.

Personally, I'd just go with any melee weapon (Swords, hammers, and axes do 55 damage per hit) if you plan to solo farm SS/LB points with heroes/henchies. Using scythes (with holy damage) in the long run may or may not matter, depending on where you farm.

How would you apply holy damage to your scythe in a Junundu? Avatars and enchantments will be stripped.

Holy damage wands and staves will do 80 damage against undead; I just tested a smiting staff.
