Full bags a problem?

We've, erm, you've all been there. How frustrating having to leave stuff behind because YOUR bags are full, there's no merchant and YOU have no salvage kit. AHA!

I have a solution borne of my superior mental capacity and amazing gene pool... and don't frown at me like that. We Asura know what we are talking about!

OK, you have a full inventory of junk. Valuable junk anyway. Where there's dirt there's brass, right? If the Skeleton crew on GW1, I don't mean they're from Orr, i mean the live team, as i was saying... if those lesser beings than my ingenious short-statured self were to polarcombinabobble on such a frequency as to alter the blizzleflux...

Alright, plain English for you non-Asura.

With my invention, take a whole bunch of items, any items, and drag them to a new inventory pane, similar in appearance to a single bank tab, then press the amazingly positioned control bamboozle on the top of the panel.
The junk will amazingly convert into a single item called a "Stack of vendor Junk" which would be of the value equal to the average of all the items placed in the panel. Amazing! But don't think for one second that you can unstack the items back into their component forms. Only talented wizards can do that, and by the rust on your buttons, you have much to learn!

For free? HA! I don't think those half-wit engineers could even do this without my ingenuity, but IF they managed to get lucky without frying their blazzleboards and dazzyprocessors, the invention should be available at merchants for a sum of gold equal to your primitive Salvage Kits that somehow manage to "break" things so often. Little do you know that the items of yours go straight into a flugcabazzle womflux. Pffff!

One thing springs to my mind: Merchant Summoning Stone. Maybe you asura guys aren't used to simple solutions?

The whole point of a limited inventory is so that players can't carry every item that's ever dropped for them. It's a game mechanic that encourages you to sell your items to merchant and trader NPCs or trade it to other players. It is a necessity in any MMO, and your idea is attempting to break that.

I just salvage all the junk as I walk round ok you still reach capacity but its not as big a problem as being full of good stuff you want to neither sell salvage or dump.

Still that's life and until there is a xunlai summoning stone it will remain so.

The point in not being able to pick up everything is to make decisions.
Beside merchant stones, and salvage kits are here to help out.
When you plan a long run outside you should empty your inventory as much as possible and bring merchant stones.
Also being able to pick up everything will bring more money into economy, nowdays it may not be much but still every bit of gold injected grows the inflation.

With a larger bag there can be room for loot plus salvages. Bag space is often restricted in games. Hope GW 2 is more generous in Inventory. if not then buying bag expanders first trip to company store. In GW earning gold Zaishen coins for a 20 slot bag extends game play. Or just buy one from someone else.

While complaining about inventory, what is this ID nonsense? And could not salvage be built in to the inventory? Hellgate London, you just right clicked on the item, selected salvage and instant junk for crafters!

Be interesting to see ANet be creative in GW 2 about this.

Having storage problems? Got PvP characters? Well there ya go! Just get a belt pouch for each plus a bag and a rune of holding. Perhaps even go so far to get equipment packs if you have lots of armor or weapons.

I have 2 PvP characters and the only problem I've had with this method is that when I want a certain weapon for a hero or a minipet for a party I have to switch to that character, put the item in the Xunlai box, switch back and get it out, but that takes less than 2 minutes, depending on whether I get the right character the first time lol.

I think the way things are now are fine, I mean they've worked up til now haven't they?

A mathematical failure of an invention. If I have two items of different value, and I want to pick up another item of greater value than either held item, dropping the least valuable of the two items is more profitable than condensing the two items into something worth the average of the two, as that average will surely be lesser than the value of the item with greater value.

And you call yourself some kind of superior asura? Better go back to your college for another hundred years, you dim-witted buffoon.

OP probably meant total instead of average...

Anyway i remember there was a spell in DS2 which turned items into gold according to their value, make it core and gogo!!

The only thing I can say about this is that Mercantile Summoning Stones should be added to the Silver ZCoin list.

About 2..5 Silver ZCoins should be the price.

That way there would be a better source for them, and your troubles will be gone.

This I would sign.

Buy them. Farm Nick and get them that way too. I've gotten a lot of mine from Nick. It'd be useless and pointless to get them with zcoins and the reason with this...
It'd be pointless to do Nick, if those items were available else where.

All you'd have to do is farm what Nick wants (or buy that) and get his gifts, without wasting gold (unless you buy the gifts or the items that he wants).

I usually keep mercantile and mysterious stones with me. Salvage, etc. after each run. Make sure that in my chest, I have what I need for my characters and their heroes.

So, even for this last suggestion i quoted and the main. I do /notsigned . :-)

Come up with a way to access the unclaimed items panel (in the event of maxed out space) problem solved. It behaves like a normal pane anyways we just can't get to it on command.

Better a buffoon that creates new ideas, than a "non-buffoon" that doesn't.

By average, i think the little Asura was trying to say "total" or "sum". The poor thing had that average word running around his head because everyone keeps picking on him, saying he is below average in height. Thankyou Gondrakif.

Merchant summoning stones are not craftable. Nor is there any guarantee of receiving one from a gift of the traveler.

Dropping things on the ground is a waste. The idea is to reduce the amount of waste, not love the status quo.

I like Wilebill's post by the way. I dislike posts that tell me to buy bigger bags and salvage kits. I've been here a long time

Who remembers the discussion with Gaile, long long ago, regarding details, and how that is what makes Guild Wars good? Back in the day when the game was new and the team were asking for ideas...
This is still my philosophy. The details make a game.

IF i were to agree that mercantile stones are better than this idea, i would suggest another... that summoned allies be given the same level of attention ingame by the AI and game mechanics as anything else of significance in the party window.
For example, why must they desummon after a mission (why can't they resume next time you enter an explorable/mission?)
Another example, play Aurora Glade with a summoned ally, and assuming it doesn't get killed, or left to die due to lower healer priority, see how brilliant those mercantile stones are when you approach the Henge Guardian.... that's right, they don't teleport with your party. Fair enough, it's only a few minutes until the end of the mission at that point, but i'd bet there are other occasions when they don't get the same treatment as party members.

By the way, the little Asura thanks you for your input. He respects your opinions greatly, even when they fly in the face of ingenuity and progress. His opinion is amazingly important, and so is yours. We all have an equal voice as players.

And no, i don't have a split personality. We've always been good friends.
