I never made the aquisition of rubies and sapphires a priority (didn't care about Vabbian armor until HOM calc, then noticed it would look good on my para); and I never did the UW and FoW more than once a month.

Assuming you are short on materials for either armor, which one do you think would be easiest/quicker to get the materials for?

vabbi requires less materials and costs only 5k a piece...so vabbi
---
16 rubies and sapphires (14 if you dont want or have a headpiece) vs 105 of each of ecto and shards (plus whatever reg mats)....

Guess I should have looked it up myself, didn't realize you only needed 14 of each gem.

especially with the price of rubies and sapphires being about 1/2 of an ecto (or there abouts).
yeah each piece of vabbi is 5k, while each piece of fow is 15k--so right there even if they had the same other material requirements (cloth, tanned hides, etc)...you would still only pay 25 (think Sagittario wasnt looking at most of the headpieces costing 5k as well--paragon is only 1k) instead of 75k.

I wondered the same thing but when I learned that it only cost about 1 ecto for a Ruby/Sapphire the choice was super easy for me. And beside, female Necro Vabby is THE best looking armor in-game according to me :P But yeah, Obby is just expensive as hell. Only get it if you have money to spare and no HoM points to spend them on pretty much :P

If you have to ask, then you probably don't want/need FoW. I only bought FoW as a set to finish HoM. I don't even wear it because I like my armor mixes better...

You can also do the quests that give you trade contracts and exchange them for ruby/sapphires, which helps immensely if you're short on money. But yeah, Vabbi armor is definitely the cheaper of the two.

It sucks that paragons are the only class that looks really good inn Obby armor, but is the one class no one wants along for the UW.

However, I think I'll go with Vabbian for the HoM and for epeen. I have 34 HoM points even without having all the companionship statues. Now that I have enough cash on hand (after I realized how much money I was wasting on lockpicks) to buy my skill hunter titles, I'm left with what kind of extravagances to purchase afterwards.
