It would be great if Nicholas had some kind of finale to cap off his epic tour of Guild Wars.

Suggestions could include:
No limit on number of turn-ins for the final day before his tour restarts.
Double number of gift of the traveler.
Increased number of items in each gift (25 candies, 10 summoning stones etc).
25 of X trophy, then he asks you for 25 of Y, then Z.... until the day is over.
Free royal gift for every gift of the traveler received.
Chance of receiving 5 platinum with every gift of the traveler.

Perhaps even an escort quest, to escort Nicholas to a zone in the general direction of his next zone.
If the Devs were really generous, perhaps his last location will be in Tyria and we could have a massive multi-zone escort quest to his first location of Regent Valley. I'm sure it would be a great finale, if players received 5 gifts for each zone escorted through.

Or better still, imagine this quest text after handing in his last request:

"For a minute there I thought I wouldn't make it. I had to run so fast I left behind a lot of my things. That infernal demon finally caught up with me on my way here.
I had my suspicions I was being tailed, which is why I tried to throw it off my scent by going from continent to continent. What? You thought I wanted to take the long scenic route?!
If this demon isn't stopped, I may not be able to collect my things and continue my journey. Kill it for me, and bring back my things, and I may find my way to rewarding you with some extra gifts."

The task would be to kill a really large Vengeful Aatxe or something equally sinister and take Nicholas' bag of items back to him for the quest reward, worthy of a grand finale.

Sometimes i wish i was a Dev...

Any other suggestions to add to this? Hopefully the live team are capable and willing enough, plus not too busy to do SOMETHING.

Although I think the dev team will be too busy, I would like to have a special Nicholas the traveler finale event.

- Maybe Yakkington's familly members as collectors in major town's collecting certain historical nick items in exchange to Gifts of the traveler (maybe the more epic and hard to farm ones)

- GofT as a rare festival drop from foes

- special Nicholas quests

Are they going to stop Nicholas's roamings?

They should not stop Nick. Reasons are multiple, GW 1 will still sell copies to those who want a few points in HoM for vet status items.

Then too, do not assume that everyone is moving to GW 2. We still do not know the recommended specs for GW 2. We do know GW 1 runs on a wide range of computers, including Linux.

Since selling two games is better than selling one game *more money* it is possible that there will be additional reasons to own GW 1 provided by ANet for those who own only GW 2.

GW 2 makes a lot of use of speech instead of text. Hence it is difficult to publish it in many different languages. At the moment I know of English and German voice acting. Is there Chinese? Korean? Spanish? French? etc. GW 2 is somewhat shot in the foot by its dependence on voice acting. Not so GW 1.

In the end, with GW 2s popularity, GW 1 may see new players coming on board who do not speak one of the supplied languages.

Not everyone who plays GW 1 is going to like the new combat style of GW 2. I know two people from my guild who will not be showing up. One is disabled. The other has tried to love WASD in Witcher 2 and just does not like it. He will not be joining us either.

I myself will keep one foot very firmly in GW 1 because I like the heroes and henchmen. So no, Nick the Traveler will not go away.

I don't really think they're stopping it...or at least they really shoudln't. It would be unfair for new players, and also it would take out many items from the game

I don't think nor hope they are stopping Nick. He is however finishing his world tour in 6 weeks, meaning he has visited every explorable area in the game. So the idea is to celebrate this with an Nicholas event.

As it is an automatic system among many others, it's almost sure that nothing will be done( nothing was done with zaishen quests or WiK bounties...)

However, as it might coincide with Wintersday, maybe there will be a link with masks or other..

i just hope they randomize the pre-existing locations. so instead of going back to iris petals we go to places in random order.

randomizing makes sense. Part of the mystery of the Nick event is to find him. I wouldn't mind seeing another mini added to his collection. Maybe Nick himself.

Nick is a reference to St. Nicholas, who has his patron's saints day on December 6.

From Wikipedia: He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him, and thus became the model for Santa Claus, whose modern name comes from the Dutch Sinterklaas.

Since his re-starting more or less coincides with December 6, I think we need a special Sinterklaas party on December 6! Pepernoten and taai-taai poppen anyone????

All games in one way or another will always be unfair to new players. Why? Because they came late and missed the boat. Your reasoning is never applied and shouldn't be used as a basis for said debate.

If we accepted your logic to be true and just then GW needs to roll the clock back 6 years so "new" players don't miss out on the golden years of the game. Ain't gonna happen right? Riiiiiiight?

If they ever get tired of putting nick in new locations, they should send him through the old ones.
I'm completely 100% aware of this fact but no matter how you look at it new players will always get the short end of the stick in one way or another.
